Hello,

I have a 2009 RDX with a no crank no start. Can’t afford a shop, so it’s a DIY must project. When you turn the key, lights and accessories all dim but there is no noise to suggest the starter is engaging. I can hear the fuel pump priming.

Steps so far:

1. Replaced the battery, confirmed the connections are sound and cleaned any corrosion // dirt in the area.

2. Replaced starter relay.

3. Fuses including fuel pump fuse tested good.

4. Car will not start in neutral.

Before I progress, I wanted to confirm my gut which is that I need to try replacing the ignition switch. Does anyone have access to the service directions for this part? If the switch doesn’t fix it, I’m thinking it’s time for the starter.

My starter went out around 140k , my son’s went around 120k . I know you don’t want to hear that either .

 

Most likely the starter itself, it is not that hard to replace, just do not overtorque the top nut.
