RDX had no issues when I bought it used. Suddenly, battery can’t hold a charge. I had it jumped a couple times and made long distance trips after each jump so alternator will refill battery. Still won’t hold a charge. Dash lights up both “check battery” light and “check SH-AWD” (super-handling all wheel drive) light, but no other dash lights.
I buy and install a new battery, same specs. New battery dies in a week. I buy a new alternator and install it myself (seemed simple enough). Battery continues to die and I continue to jump it. Thought it might be Bluetooth constantly drawing power from battery (read online that this is a common problem with 2008 RDXs), so I disabled Bluetooth. No change.
I check the amperage put out by the battery at rest. Sure enough, parasitic draw. I recheck the draw after removing individual fuses. After removing fuse #23 (labeled simply “BACK UP”) from the under-hood fuse box, parasitic draw is gone.
Can someone please tell me what “BACK UP” is? What systems does it affect to have no fuse in there?
