Hi all, after a year and a half of p0976 torture, I finally was able to fix this issue. My B solenoid was bad and there is very little information about this issue. I wanted to share everything I have incase someone else has this issue.
The first step is to remove the air intake and battery tray. This will give you access to the Trans area where the solenoids are located.
The next step is to remove the wire harness there are a couple of clips that go down towards the bottom of the transmission and the big plastic piece will be bolted with a 10m. After its all unclipped and the bolt removed. You can move the harness out of the way.
Now you need to remove dual solenoid, this can be removed without moving the shift cable. Make sure to carefully remove it as it has 3 inserts.
Now you can remove the cover that houses the solenoids. Carefully remove it.
You will see 4 solenoids with 4 different colored wires.
In clock wise order:
The First will be Red to solenoid B which has a brown connector (p0976)
The second will be green to solenoid C which has a brown connector
The third will be yellow to solenoid A and has a black connector
The last one will orange to solenoid D and has a black connector.
part numbers:
Brown solenoid- 28400-RDK-003
Black solenoid- 28500-RJB-004
Case gasket- 28451RDK000
O rings- (91301-P6H-003) (91302-P7W-A00) (91301-P7Z-004)
Dual linear Solenoid gasket- 28252-RDK-000
solenoid wire harness- 28360RDK003
I got my parts from a junk yard. I ended up replacing all 4 solenoids as they looked very dirty including the wire hardness that connects to the solenoids.
Also be mindful about removing the bolts holding the solenoids. DO NOT LOSE GRIP OR IT CAN FALL INTO TRANSMISSION MAKING THIS SITUATION WORSE. Remove only the bolts circled here the top right bolt holds two solenoids together.
