My Modz

Hey everybody, just wanted to share some of my modz that I've done to my RDX. I customized a Mugen lip to fit, changed up my tail lights, blacked out my rims and customized a K&N intake to fit. (The lip and intake are off my '01 Integra.) I also blacked out the silver lining around the ram-air and my exhaust tips. The air intake sounds pretty sick (like darth Vader) due to the "boost diverter". Top end is increased alot. I pulled pretty good on a stock RDX on the street, but alot more on high-way. Alot of RDX's are showing up in my area so I had to switch things up. Hope it gives you some ideas. Next to be blacked out are my headlights. I'll post a step by step (w/pics) on how to do it. Lates.

That's cool. Not my particular cup of tea, but I like how you individualized your own vehicle to be different. Good job and welcome!

Interesting. I can't tell from the pictures what the 'blacked out' pieces look like. Did you paint those pieces or have them powder coated?

Very interesting! I would like to see more photos of the tailights and the exhaust if you can!
I wonder if some different center caps on the wheels would look good?

Don't forget to do your door handles!

Please tell me you got the wheels powder coated and that you didn't just paint them. I like the way the front end looks in the pics, if it looks that good in person, then good job. Not really feeling the exhaust tips in black though, but you have to be happy with it. And if you like it then GREAT! Personally, nothing looks better on a black car than chrome, but I'm coming from a triple black convertible mustang GT, so I am bias. =)

Agreed nice front but rims are funky. Too much black, needs some contrast.

Very different!
Why don't you tint the front windows to match the "Dark side theme"?
I would go w/ chrome rims. Gives a great contrast to all that BLACK look. (& it would match the handles!!). Front end is nice. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own. Good job. JMHO.

Hey thanks for the comments. Yeah, I know that it's not something that everyone would like to do to the RDX, but I've always customized all of my rides. (I used to work in my cousins shop.) Everyone can buy a bodykit etc. so I like to add a twist. Yes, I painted the rims myself with the "flat black" rims paint. It goes on clean when done right, plus, the stock rims are just for winter. I've got 19" Roja formula 5's with (245/45/19 rubber) that have have a custom 2"lip. I will be sending out to get professionally done to get colour matched. My buddy does it for a pretty good price. Starting from $40 a rim. (call Martin 416.827.7185 he does dent/scratch removal too.) The door handles are going to be done too, which I've been looking at the Honda CRV's to have put on. The door handles look exactly the same, just painted. Paint doesn't like to stick on chrome. Talk to you later.

Hey yeah, sweet mods. I think they all look pretty cool. Ditto the front window tints, I got mine done on my black RDX and it looks badass. Digging the front grill mods especially, nice stuff and way to make it your own. Let's hear the details when you get a chance. I'm also interested in seeing more of the tails.

First off, I give you props to devirginizing the RDX. I promised myself not to poke the new ride, until the funds tend to favor; however, it's still something I wouldn't touch. Saving up for the 1 series, coming next spring.

I got the Xpel - Headlight protection covers..great idea..
HARD AS SH*T To install..excuse my lingo..
But oh my god....I had to Cut these things in 1/2..
And too much bubble forming...
The Foglights..i ddint even bother, cause it wouldn't bend correctly.
The side blinkers on the mirrosr were the easiest of all.
But he headlights..
just wasn't working out too well.
I mean..it'll still be protected..but i tried giving myself the usual 2-3 hour minimum but took me 4-5 hours to do..and it still came out crappy.
pictures to come.

Thumbs up My RDX Modz w/K&N intake

Thanks man. This is what I have on for now. Yes, you can hear the turbo just sucking in air and when you release the gas, it sounds like Darth Vader exhales. I'd post some videos, but not too sure how to. A TL Type S tried to take me while we were rolling at about 40km, he made the first move and I sailed past him just as his rear wheel met my front wheel. He gave me props when we got to the next lights. All in fun, I don't really promote street racing though.

[IMG][/IMG]

I also put in JDM yellow in my fog lights. It looks pretty sick.

Thumbs up Blacked out RDX head lights

I finally had a chance to work on my headlights today. I used Krylon plastic paint to do this job.

Step 1: Taking off the bumper. There are button clips under and on the top of the bumper. 2 screws per side in the wheel well and one under the bumper just in front of the wheel well and the rest just clips off.
[IMG][/IMG]

Step 2: Removing the headlights. There are 2 button clips and four screws holding the HL.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Step 3: Use a heat gun to weaken the dumdum that holds the HL lens on and 2 flathead screw drivers to open HL. There is one small screw to remove.
IMG]Name: RDXHLPstep4.jpg
Views: 1474
Size: 35.3 KB[/IMG]

Step 4: Remove inner casing from behind lens. There are 2 small screws holding inner casing to lens.
[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

Step 5: Put headlight back together and re-heat dumdum to soften and put HL lens back. You can use addtional dumdum there isn't enough left for recontact.
[IMG][/IMG]
Let me know what you think. Peace

Talking RDX K&N filter clip

Not too sure if this will work, but I'll try to post a video of what my RDX sounds like with a K&N filter.

Nice it worked. Enjoy!

DgDiamondz Consider a BOV, the Stock BPV supposedly leaks, if it is the same one on the CX-7, Do you have any pics of the stock BPV?

Thanks for the suggestion, I was planning on doing that, too! But whether or not the RDX has the same BPV as the CX-7, I'll have to do some research. Unfortunately I don't have a pic of the RDX BPV.

I used the JDM H11 bulbs. I tried to take a picture of the Yellow fogs, but it gets over powered by the HID's when you look at the pics. But you can trust me, they're pretty bright. I'll try taking a pic with the headlights covered. One thing for sure, it looks bad-ass when I leave the head lights/fogs on "auto", cause when I disarm the RDX...BAM!! Bright HID and bright yellow. lol Later.

CP-E said while it was developing the CAI for the RDX noticed that the BPV's are exactly the same. If they are, its a cheap POS plastic, that leaks.

Will a change in the BOV help anything on the RDX? I read something about the placement of the MAF sensor and where the BOV is located it may not help but ruin the performance and fuel economy...something about the ECU pouring more fuel and not getting the oxygen to burn it thus running richer (almost all honda's come tuned rich already)....

DG, could you send me a link of what to buy and how to install that? That sounds bad ass I have not done anything to my RDX yet, but figure that would be a great place to start!

Sorry bro, the only thing I can do is tell you what I needed to do in modifying an air intake. With a dremel, I had to cut a rectanglular hole in the intake elbow for the sensor. That's how I'm going to install my CB cold air intake. Oh yeah, had to make a mount for the sensor too, so that it sits about an inch or something above the intake elbow. Same placement as on the stock rubber arm. Later

If and only if the stock valve leaks would a BPV/BOV help, in 100% recirculation mode, not vent to atmosphere.

I too have "lexus" light scheme on my RDX, HID blue with yellow fogs. I took it a step further and got yellow tints for the fog lights as well it gives a great day time look when they are off. Your RDX sounds great Dg, I can't wait to get my CAI! its going to be like darth vader coming down the block at every corner!

Thanks for the props. I was going to leave the amber reflector out, but it didn't look that great. Especially since it's just a peanut bulb that would be exposed. The least I could do was paint behind the reflector so it gives a darker amber.
