Weapon R Secret Intake
Hello!
Just wondering if anyone has tried the Weapon R Secret Intake as found on eBay for the RDX, starting at $175 at the moment. LINK HERE.
Looks pretty cool as it comes with a ram air and cleaning kit.

I think you'd be the first to own, personally i like the idea that there is a pipe to straighten air flow and reduce minor turbulence. Just not sure what it would gain by it, but it would sound sweet. You'd be the first to post any info on it too.

Just a word of caution, or just something to consider when reading all the testing that they do to show increased airflow, in that all of it is geared towards naturally aspirated engines and not forced induction ones as the RDX is!

Looks cool but I've heard mixed reviews about foam filters. Some say they get dirty quicker and can dry out and crack. However, it comes with a mil-mile warranty so reliability shouldn't be an issue.
I like how the mass air sensor is not on the bend like with the K&N filter. I don't think the air ram is necessary as it may lean out the AFR at high speeds but I'm interested to see how it works along with the unique air flow stack design. I'm sure it is less restrictive as other comparable filters with similar power gains.
Just wanted to throw this one out there and hopefully we can get a comparison dyno numbers on the available intake options for the RDX. So far I've seen this Weapon R Secret Intake, the K&N Typhoon, and the CP-E. Most of us will only purchase one though..

Yeah, I once had a foam filter on my Evo. It came as part of an HKS turbo kit. After a couple years the foam broke down, got brittle, and the turbo sucked some of it in :/ bye bye turbo

Well, if you like the tube and price, and the only feature that holds you back is the filter element then pick up an: K&N, AEM, Etc. Cotton filter from a parts store. You'll end up paying less than all of us that have the typhoon kit, had I thought about it that way I would have picked up a Weapon r intake myself.
I am not sold on the air meter positioning that brand x and y say is important. Air is going to move at any point of the tube in the same way in a bend or 2 inches past a bend. My 2cents

I probably won't be getting the WR but thought it'd be nice to throw this on the table. It was a pretty sweet find. Hopefully we'll get some dyno numbers for comparison someday..

I don't see any info about being CARB compliant but it's probably no biggie.
I managed to find this thread about someone saying he purchased one but he never followed up.. https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-performance-parts-modifications-162/cold-air-intake-weapon-r-681942/

Glad you went this route.
Drop in filters suck to much money for +(x)hp. Take a vid, I'd like to hear it, It'd sound sweet. I would have gone that route, and added a cotton cone filter, or a SUS mesh would have been better IMO.
As you can see... Some people worry about the foam aging and becoming brittle then falling apart into a turbo treat. Nam nam nam
