TMIC R&D by ETS

Extreme Turbo Systems is interested in producing a TMIC upgrade for the RDX. They are located in Vancouver, WA and need a vehicle for R&D to fit a larger intercooler. If anyone is in the area and interested, please contact Michael R. at sales@extremeturbosystems.com to get started.

A better designed TMIC guarantees power gains, period. Cooler air = more power. Yes, a FMIC would look cooler but costs more and could cause more turbo lag due to the extra volume to pressurize. Power gains with a FMIC could make it worthwhile though and ETS is capable of making it happen. If I could stop by their shop, I'd have them make both. Both would be a great mod for our RDX and props to anyone who is willing to take one for the team.

ETS produces quality products with proper R&D resulting in perfect fitments and provide dyno charts to show HP & TQ gains. I have contacted them to get this done but, unfortunately, I am not local. I'm not affiliated with ETS either. Below is a reply from Michael from ETS:
James,

We are interested in building the top mount, the problem is we would need a vehicle here to do so. We could build a stock replacement with the factory top mount here, but there may be more room for a larger top mount.

Thanks,

Michael
About ETS:
Extreme Turbo Systems offers custom built Intercoolers and Intercooler Kits for your vehicle. If you're making 50 horsepower to 1000+ horsepower, we have the intercooler that will suit your needs. We specialize in manufacturing intercoolers, and have the ability to build any custom intercooler to your specs. We take care of all the details, from Silicone hose and T-Bolt Clamps to a selection of intercooler accessories. Please visit the rest our website for info on how to get the best intercooler on your high performance vehicle.

ETS' TMIC upgrade for the MazdaSpeed3 shows 20HP/20TQ gains. I don't know about you but I'd love an extra 20HP/TQ in my RDX.

If I missed your post, please PM. It seems that AZ's e-mail notifications for thread subscriptions is flaky but I do get e-mail notifications for PMs.

Not to be a wet blanket, but with a larger IC don't you need additional programing for the ECU?

Hopefully someone pulls thru like what they did with the Hondata Reflash for the +10 models.

This would be a great additional mod for us.

Thought Portland was close to Vancouver ~ Just take Sandy Blvd to highway 205.

Aren't you close to Vancouver Bluecarbonfiber!
It is up to you or Mr.Marco to take one for the RDX team.

R&D on my RDX is scheduled for the week of 26th through the 30th of this month. I will update the thread after the install with pics & dyno results, etc. Probably also going to get the Hondata re-flash after the TMIC.

Yes, pumped as well.
This should be an easy bolt on hp upgrade that anyone can do in an afternoon. One of the first things I noticed about the RDX TMIC was how small it was compared to the MazdaSpeed3/6 intercooler. So if ETS can make a bigger breather for the Speed 3, they can definitely help the RDX.

Top IC = OEM Speed 3 TMIC
Bottom= ETS TMIC

Looks like x-mas is coming a little late this year but it'll be well worth it!

A bar and plate intercooler on the RDX is gonna be sick.

Could not deliver vehicle.

Drove to ETS as instructed to drop off the RDX this morning at 8:30am and no one was at the shop. Waited for an hour and then drove back home. Lots of headers, tubes, and several cars in the back of the shop with hoods open seen through the window, but not one person.
No "we decided to take another day off" e-mail, no "closed on the 26th" sign on the door, no reply to my e-mail or phone call.

Very unprofessional and a waste of 3 hours of my time.

Will update if they contact me.

That is very unprofessional, and it sucks that they wasted your time like that. I dealt with one shop here in SoCal where they were an hour late to open on a Saturday (I was the first appointment), and once someone came, he looked hungover. Then he proceeded to tell me the tuner was running late and wouldn't be in for another 45 minutes. After that experience, I never went back...

Very frustrating at the least.
I’m sure that the owner said, “Why don’t you all take Monday off too” and forgot about me because I am low on the priority list. However a simple note on the front door would have sufficed. I’m pissed off, but not counting them out yet. I still want to lend my support to small/independent shops because they are the ones who truly produce new and innovative ideas.

RDX in for R&D

Dropped off the RDX this morning. Very nice set-up for a new shop (2 months old new location). Hundreds of cores and many IC's on the shelf, CNC bender & 4 large tables with templates/die forms, powder coat room, aluminum production floor and a full-time staff of 10.

Here are just a few of the toys in the back room:

Fastest EVO-10 in North America 880hp AWD

GTR

The biggest turbo & IC set-up that I've ever seen.

Not pictured white Toyota Supra Mark IV which will reportedly produce 1,200hp when finished.

I felt embarrassed by my wimpy little RDX walking out the door.

I'm very sorry about this, it was an overlook on my part. We decided to take off Monday at the last minute (Friday) and the RDX slipped my mind. It was good meeting you yesterday Marco and we will definitely make it up to you in the community on this top mount

Thanks for helping us RDX owners out. (Marco / Michael)
We need more vendors to take another look at the RDX.

Can't wait for the outcome on TMIC.

Might as well since the RDX is there for some good R&D.

Cat-back / TMIC / Down and mid pipe / Intake manifold / bigger turbo.

ok - we are getting greedy but one can daydream at work. =)

Ehum, or a downpipe that isn't $1,400. Lol... I would lend my support if we can fiqure out how to get it to pass Portland Oregon's strict DEQ requirements. They test through the port, not the tailpipe, so it can't throw any codes. If the car was registered in another county, it wouldn't matter.

Above are a few sneak peak pics. Note: The pictures mounted on the vehicle do not have the side plates on yet, but you can see them in the comparison picture. We will be doing some testing this week on the top mount.

Thanks!
