Performance Mod Ideas - Discuss

Muffler bypass valve- n/c valve between inlet and pass side outlet. Open using vtec relay. (between #9 & 5 below)

Vented RR bumper cover- #19 below is solid. Remove mtl to open inside the cross hatch grill areas to allow better heat venting and air flow.

My i/c picks up bugs, weeds, etc and I clean it often. Need a light wt, easy to clean pre-filter to clip on the inlet guide.(#18)

The spaceinside #18 is bigger than it looks, and could house two small pre-coolers. Using the window wash tk and pumping ice water. Controled by vtec relay.

this last idea might be better off at low RPM.

definitely alot to make it happen too. Why not just get an intercooler water spray. MRT had some simmilar to STi type stuff... sure there's other brands out there.

Hey BH,
It does get heat soaked going slow in traffic or idling. I saw iat 156f last week while idling 5 min with a/c on.

For the pre-coolers you would need air moving across them to function. You are always moving air at vtec.

Has anyone tried an RDX w/sprayer? Results?
I know some rain water gets up to our i/c, but not sure about wetting it with intent. Not wanting to scale up the fins. Distilled water maybe?

Thanks for thinking about these.

yeah, it should always be distilled water.

Never saw any signs of buildup/issues using distilled in the 06 STi i had previously.

A plus to this type of system is you can use it at will...at launch, high RPM, or push to pass!! hahah.. ok, so it's not F1 DRS and KERS.. ;p

I'm sure performance modding of the RDX will require a lot of custom fab work since there isn't a big aftermarket market for it. Although it is a k series engine so i'm sure you can make parts fit from the RSX-S or 06+ Civic Si work with the RDX.

Example would be using a RBC intake manifold and route intercooler piping to make a front mount intercooler work.

I still think we could make the kpro work with it running as a dual ecu.

Yeah, I agree. Flash pro would be the best bet if hondata were ever to come out with one. This would allow a lot of potential of modding the RDX. The only thing is i'm not sure how strong the k23a1 is and how well the transmission, transfer case and rear diff would handle all the power and torque if the car could reach those levels.

As with all hondas the transmissions would probably be the limiting factor.
