lower body plastic panels near door, are these a separate piece?
thinking of adding sound insulation, if possible...
just wondering though, the doors on our rdx, i noticed that the lower body panels on the doors seem to be a separate piece (eg. made of plastic/polyurethane). is this polyurethane piece layered just on top of the door (eg. mounted on top of all the 4 doors like how a bike rack is mounted on the roof) or is this a real piece that needs to be/could be removed from the door itself? (i also noticed there's a gap, hence might be good to clean the inner part too if i do /can remove that molding)
the acura website / press releases all say this: "Chip-resistant lower body panels". so i was wondering if this is a separate panel i need to remove or it is just "stuck" on top of all the 4 doors.
thanks!

The front door molding is attached by 1 screw at the front, 3M tape across the top and 13 plastic clips. To remove it take out the inside door panel, then from the inside remove the screw cap and the screw. Outside, cut the 3M tape at the top edge. Then tap the molding forward with a plastic hammer and it will slide out of the clips, which remain in the door.
To install, apply new 3M tape, put the plastic clips in the molding and snap it into place, then put in the screw.
Rear door is similar except; no screw, 3M tape is along trailing edge and there are only 8 clips.
