Let's try this again: Exhaust

I swear if I didn't own a TL already, this would be it. Turbo all wheel drive Acura? Can somebody say Infinity FX killer! Sucks that there is such a lack of aftermarket support for this car.

Anyway, I'm looking for a RDX to take a look at the exhaust system. Just want to see how it sounds from the factory and how it's set up.

I'm in So.Cal, west hills. If you have a few minutes where I can just take a look at the exhaust and get a bit of revving action going, I'd appreciate it.

PM me please, thanks!!

-Mike

Not loud, well severely less then the FX thats for sure (I've driven an FX45, what a boat)

I had a passenger sit in the RDX while I was driving and he could swear the RDX hauled more ass then the FX45.

Mike,

Do a search on youtube for RDX ... there is a video for an "under body analysis" done by temple of Vtech and there is was a clip of the RDX exhaust sound as well. Might help you.

Would you say the stock exhaust is too quiet?

Mike,

For me personally, I would like some more growl out of the RDX. I love the sound of the Infiniti G's and FX's. What project do you have in mind? Please do share ....

Arrow GRRR baby, Very Grrrr!!!

A growl like an FX would be cool, but the RDX will never sound like that. The RDX will have load whistling and air moving sounds instead. I prefer to hear the turbo wine and V-TEC scream !

I have a lot of things in mind for this project and can't wait to start.

I did go snap a few pictures to refer to for what I had in mind.

First and foremost, I want to keep this system street and smog legal. So we won't mess with the cat.

A larger pipping most likely 2.75", or 3" fully mandrel bent all the way back. The welds and pipping doesn't look pretty on the stock RDX. It even looks like it's crush bent at certain points!

Next, the muffler canister. That's where the fun begins. I think we can go with a dual canister look, where it's either two canisters parallel to each other, polished with matte finished end-caps.

The tips on the RDX have a lot of potential to look better. I think slanted duals would look awesome and compliment the RDX's rear appearance. These stock looking tips look..stock.

Last of all, I think we can get a better position on the tips by mounting them a little flusher to the bumper, so there is not a huge gap.

Here are some pics of the exhaust system that was just completed by ATLP through the partnership of Stromung Exhaust Engineering. The whole system was completely custom built, and tailored to the TL. I'm sure this project will be even sweeter...muwahah

Anyway, I know that this RDX board is not as "happenin" as the TL side, but give me some feedback. It will probably be a limited production run of 20 total units.

Sound will be geared towards a reserved grumble, and aimed for the G35-tone, or similar.

Cost is estimated to be around $800.

Oh, and I'm still looking for a test car here in Southern California, 818.

You will be compensated with a free Hondata ECU tune, and a discount of the exhaust system as well.

Let's see who's interested!

Mike

It is, but the tips would be even more complimenting with an exhaust system! Trust me...

Just copy and add yourself to the list for future reference.

It's actually looking like a good turn out! I didn't think too many people cared about performance and sound for the RDX...

I could buy it for someone, but I don't want to take away from someones chance of having one on here, if you need a spot to fill put me down, I will buy one, as a gift.
So take me off for the time being.

IN! i would def throw on some bad boys back there...but, I want some sound to know that something is back there. Altho the turbo and its functions are prominent in the RDX...the exhaust needs to be as well. If there is growl in the system, im 100%!

I'm going to aim for a very reasonable price where in my opinion there will be no need for a group buy. Although, I don't think a group buy will be possible because MOST likely it will only be a single batch/run that I'll be making.

I'm wanting to see at least 20 potential interests. I know at least half are going to flake out..and I don't have 10 extra RDX's in my garage just to put these on. Hah.

Oh yeah before I forget, we just got the dyno run done today by Jackson Racing, and came up with great results! 11HP, and 8lbs of TQ! Remember...that's on a N/A motor.

I'm very satisfied with the results! Almost all other exhausts only gained 5-6whp for the TL. I was hoping for at least the same, but I was surprised when the results showed up!

I can't guarantee that I will purchase one or not when the time comes, but I am definitely interested. Depends on how loud it is over stock and of course how it looks too. I don't expect HUGE power gains, but modest gains would be nice. Really the thing that may keep me from buying it is the fact that it is illegal in VA. I already have the illegal tints so it would just add to that. If its not real loud though they really don't care much.

A lot of dealers nowadays are much more lenient toward basic bolt ons. Intakes, exhausts, and headers are already being sold by dealers themselves anyway. Plus not only that, you still have the Moss warranty act to protect you. The act states that the dealer most prove that the particular modification you have made was the root cause of say...the windows not working.
