Question Headlamp LED upgrade. Need an advice.

I'm now looking forward some LED upgrade of my headlamps. bAek-sU inspired me so much with his post where he installed the switch-back turn signals at his RDX ride.

http://s308.photobucket.com/albums/k...t=842c2c65.flv

Here is the drawing of the headlamp itself w/details

1) Headlamp assy Right 2) Bolt Bolt Back 3) Nut Nut Back
4) Hid bulb Back 5) High beam bulb Back 6) Signal lamp bulb Back
7) Park lamp bulb Back 8) Signal lamp Signal lamp Back 9) Parking lamp Parking lamp Back
10) Cover boot Back 11) Igniter Back 12) Seal Seal Back
13) Cover shield Back 14) Control module Back 15) Gasket Gasket Back
16) #1 #1 Right 17) #2 #2 Right 18) #3 #3 Right

And here goes the link to Bulb replacement guide by sasair.

So as far as I could notice bAek-sU has only swapped the Signal lamp (6) with V-LEDS and the Park lamp (7) remained the same and is damned yellow. Both those lamps are 1157A AFAIK.

The question is - is the Parking lamp yellow itself or it's just because of the yellowish plate above it? Should I replace this with some LED or it's enough to get rid of the yellow plate? TIA

its been so long since i did any mods to my car but anyways.
you mean the side marker right? if yes, its the plate that makes it yellow, even tho you change it to white its still gonna look yellowish. if thats not what you asking. pm me back. and btw if you wanna take out the yellow plate you need to take out your head lights and bake it in the oven.
try and look in 3rd g tl section they have a diy.. but beware it could ruin your head lamps

Can you provide the exact part number from the company you purchased it from? I tried superleds, and I could not locate one, but I didnt really look in depth. What's the price of the switchback signal leds?

Did you have to install an inline resistor to simulate proper signal speed or change the relay?

Thanks

How come on your signal light switch white/orange back and forth? Do you have LED and halogen?

I love my switch-backs!

RaffN, it is a single bulb with two diff color leds in it, thus switching between the two!

Why not all white? It looks like an emergency car, ambulance? just my opinion.

Thanks, bAek-sU. I am aware regarding the headlamps and it won't be DIY. I have a local shop that does various things to the headlamps. I'll also paint the inner part to the body color.

I think you're right and I should order those LED parking lights also (see link). Plus V-LEDs changed some of their products and switch-back turn signals for RDX are now here plus we'll gonna need the bloody resistors

RaffN, dammit. It's TURN SIGNALS! They just MUST blink, you know... And turn signals have to be YELLOW here in Europe if you want to know, course

Resistors. You need these to stop the 'hyper-blink'.

Thank you. I heard of them before but couldn't spit out any details. I think they are a big player on eBay, but I couldn't locate any switchbacks either.

By the way, did you install inline resistors or replaced the signal relay? I called Acura, and they could not locate a signal relay. The older Hondas used the black resistor boxes that controlled the rate of blinking; he claims that this may not be used and integrated into the fusebox, but still cannot confirm.

Do you have increased speed blinkers?

All those links are not actual. They've got new product

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/T...-p7114824.html

And they ran out of the resistors

I think that the link is 'actual' as you put it. If you notice it also says that they are out of stock.

And the resistors are installed in parallel to the bulb. There is no signal relay to change!

Mine blink at normal speed. I installed the resistors!

Well, whatever. The provided link was given to me by V-LED sales and they have 5k of them in stock all others are obsolete as they advised me.

Chronic14, dunno. My electricians will apply those.

2All: What about swapping HB3/9005 lamps to LEDs ? These are responsible for both high beam and also DRL. I think that HID-like DRL would look fine, but how high beam might be affected. Can this cause some discomfort?

That looks way cool! How are they when you turn on the high beam?

I khow that DRL upgrade to LEDs looks gorgeous, BUT wspy is right, what about the high beam? There are plenty of them in fact (http://www.v-leds.com/9005-HB3/c267097-1-2/) and they're expensive...

I've read TL forums earlier when "googled the question" Still didn't found anything regarding the high beam. I hope that everything will be fine with those LEDs that's why I've ordered them plus resistors.

wspy, yes, I'll remember and they won't be because I use DRL rarely and turn the high beams on even more rare. Usually I'm satisfied with the stock HIDs.

Still I'm gonna give 'em a try. Post pics in a month or so...

Hi, I'm new here but I tried the LED DRL from V-LED on my RDX so thought I'd share my experience. The LED DRL turned on and looked great, but the "Check DRL system" kept showing up with a beep every 5 sec. I didn't have resistors on because V-LED site didn't say anything about needing one for this kit (and the fact that the kit came with DRL module). I contacted V-LED to ask about this, and they said that most likely it is still sensing the electrical current difference. They said that the only fix is the resistors but can't say that fixes the issue for sure.

Since then, I got the switch-back LED turn signals and yellow DRL bulb (not LED). I didn't wanna make everything all white... and I'm satisfied with the look.

Hey AltRDX, it's nice to see another RDX with 3000K (yellow) foglights. Did you get an hid kit for your fogs?

Here are pics of my fogs

Thanks, gstyper. I haven't seen very many RDX with 3000k fogs like ours yet, and Yes I got an HID kit.

I've always had yallow fogs on my car in the past, but RDX is the first to get 3000k HID. They look great and actually better visibility in bad weather.

Here's my experience and advice. Do NOT buy any DRL upgrades for your high beam will suffer pretty much. I've purchased one, installed and then removed this upgrade.

I've also purchased 2 HID WHITE 24 LED PARKING LIGHT BULBS 1157 2057 from V-LEDs and they didn't fit at all. Pretty weird...

Still my switch-backs work like a charm with resistors of course.

Another Option...

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-diy-faq-161/2009-rdx-drl-led-conversion-726170/

Have you guys been to this thread?... if you're interested in an alternative to VLED's this sal001 character claims he uses a rectifier and capacitor to use the LED's and get rid of the "Check DRL" warning on the MID... just food for thought... I've purchased all of the components, but have not installed them myself, just need to find the time.

I really like the look of the switchbacks you-guys, nice look!
