Is combining CP-E intake with Hondata SAFE?

I currently have a CP-E intake that I installed early this week. It sounds amazing! Now I am thinking of getting a Hondata ECU and was wondering if those two mods are Safe together?

Also If i buy a new ECU so I can swap in the stock ECU if something goes wrong will the dealer be able to tell that I had a hondada ECU for warranty purposes?

It's fine.

Read this thread and click on the link. The only combination Hondata recommends against is:

Hondata's recommendations

About the only configuration we would not recommend would be this:

If the customer's RDX is running all of the following:

- Exhaust
- Hondata Reflash
- CP-E intake
- California 91 octane fuel

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-performance-parts-modifications-162/cp-e-intake-hondata-reflash-test-682633/

If you want to contact me, please send me an email. cwepruk at shaw dot ca.

Payment can be made by interac email transfer. The ECU works on other RDX's without any other mods.

What do you think of the new intake. I see your a fellow Canadian and even better Vancouverite. I just bought a 2010 RDX and have been looking at this intake. What are your thoughts?

gungho,

I like the intake allot. It makes the car sound really good. you here it mainly when you are start accelerating and then the valve when you let off the gas. For power it feels a bit better and the throttle response is a bit better but that could all be in my head. Very happy with it overall.

jt328,

I currently go to school in Denver CO so rain isn't really a concern. But before I bought the intake I did think about hydro lock because it snows a lot here and I will be coming back to vancouver soon. If you look at the pictures of where the intake cone will be sitting in the engine bay it looks pretty protected from the rain. Maybe one day I will get some kind of box made to protect it.

yea i just purchased a 2009 rdx couple months back and i cant make up my mind if i should get the KnN short-ram or the Cp-e. One other question i have is what about the warranty. would they void the warranty once we put non acura product in the engine.

CAI/K&N won't hydrolock the engine, the take are from the same place as the stock airbox, not down low like a lot of sport compacts.

LOL...I am not worried about hydro lock what so ever. So many people lose sleep over it because they dont understand it or respect it. My last car was an 04 RSX and I had the INJEN CAI, the s h i t weather that car went through last year with the record amount of snowfall was incredible.

When I started researching this intake I did a few experiments. The car being brand new, and with the incredible rain we had the other day, the area where the CP-E filter sits stayed bone dry. I have even tsprayed the hose directly into that area, and it got very and I mean very minimal dampness. Obviously the hose was over kill, but I am not concerened at all.

I look forward to placing this order within the next few days.

Vancouver boys, we should all meet up one evening. I see the TL guys meet up everynow and then. Be kinda cool to sit and BS about our cars one day or nite.

I see you are running the K&N Intake? What are your thoughts? Do you have the reflash?

hey, i just got my K&N, i have yet to install it, the reflash is a risk, it can turn out to be good or bad for RDX, depends how ur rdx will handle it, i have other mods such as catback exhaust etc.. so I'm still unsure at the moment, how's the 2010 rdx ?, are u changing ur rims ?

I think I am going to order the CP-E Intake. Not to sure yet. I have been really intrigued by the reflash! How can it be bad or good for the RDX? I haven't really read much negative on it.

I really like the 2010. Its a great vehicle. The changes from the other years is why I waited. I do wanna get rims next spring. I wanna get some pretty wicked looking wheels. Classy but tough, if u know what I mean. Some of the RONJON rims are nice, but the dont go bigger than 19's. I think I want a set of 20's

I got a CP-E and am extremely happy. The way I see it is that K&N is mass produced and CP-E os custom to the RDX. That is just a personal opinion.

Why do you think the reflash can be good or bad? From what I have read as long as you don't combine these 4 mods together it should be fine. Have you heard of people who have had problems?

- Exhaust
- Hondata Reflash
- CP-E intake
- California 91 octane fuel

CWEPRUK brought this to my attention.

it's very pricey, n there's not that much gains to it unless you drive at 5000 rpm, I might just leave it stock, some people had computer problems with their 2007-2008 rdx

2007 RDX here with Hondata reflash. No problems here. Pricey? $600 for 13% more torque at 4k RPM and 13% more HP at 6k RPM? How much does one pay for a catback? Noticeable gain everywhere, even right from a launch. Anybody who says otherwise has clearly not lived with the upgrade. Way better bang for the buck than anything out there. It's a turbo, so increasing the boost is a no brainer mod.

Joe
