Anyone using an oil catch can?

Well the PCV is in 2 external places i know of..
1 at the left of the engine next Alternator mount and piped to the Intake manifold.
2 on in the back around the intake. It's shrouded and is on the valvecover driver side and rear.
If it's possible I'd do a catch can at 2 and a breather at 1
right now I have a breather at 1.

Any pics, I don't have an rdx yet, just curious as to how it's configured, routed and if there is any space around to hang an oil catch can.
Your description indicates it's not a traditional PCV system, unless I understand it wrong, usually the PCV valve comes out of the valve cover and is routed to the intake manifold with a hose, and the oil catch can goes in between (to catch oil from the air before it goes back into the intake manifold and crud things up overtime).
There is also a breather hose that goes into the valve cover coming from the intake, and many put a breather filter there and plug up the intake, but that serves no purpose IMO, either way it's there to get fresh air and does not affect anything in regards to where the air comes from, actually, putting a breather filter there makes it worse since it will suck in hot air from the engine compartment instead of cool air from the intake.

I saw what you did, isn't it wrong what you did? oily air comes out of the pcv valve, you put a breather flter there, won't that saturate the breather filter with oil? And you blocked off the intake manifold hole, so now it's not recirculating anymore. The only thing that belongs there is an oil catch can, it allows recirculation and eliminates oil from the fumes.
Regardless of how you see it, it's a hell of a tight area to work in, thanks for the pics.

Haha, I suppose, but won't you have to perform the same maintainence on an catch can? And for that PCV it is not saturated at 40000 miles, has trace oil. In my case it's missing the vacuum pressure so it's just a crankcase vent. And I know that's why there's little maintainence or saturation.
Again the one I'd use a catch can on is the PCV under the tmic on the valve cover that runs to the intake... There's more room there.

Old thread found searching for catch can info...
Anyone run one? I see soot on the back of the car, just hit 15k mi.
I mean run one in a configuration that would pass ca smog.
Also, do CP-E intakes have CARB approval?
Thanks for any helpful info.
