Any 2012 RDX mods recommendations?

Hi, all,

I'm looking to mod my 2012 RDX but options are very limited as Hondata flash is not available and many forums claimed CAI for turbo engines does not give improvements in performance/fuel efficiency.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There was no answer. On the Hondata website, someone asked them to make one but Hondata didn't respond.
Heeltotoe website explicitly stated that Hondata reflash will not work for 2012 model

Hey guys, new to the site and a proud new owner to a 2012 Acura RDX. I am wondering what good it would do to get a list together to present to Hondata sales on people owning 2012 models interested in flash development. Our numbers may be limited, but I bet I could get maybe 20 people between multiple sites interested. I am not sure what the threshold required is for Hondata to be interested in developing this, but I personally would really like them to develop a reflash for the 2012 models. I have no idea what Acura's logic was to change the ECU on the last model year of the RDX before a full redesign, but whatever. I posted over on Hondata's forum something similar with no response. I am willing to try and rally to a cause for the limited numbers we have for the 2012 model if you people think it would be worth it.

At any rate, I would like to know everyone who owns a 2012 model interested in having Hondata support that model year. I will take names from here, club rsx, vtec.net, and anyone else that may be interested.

In the meantime, any advice on how to get the most out of my model year is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Joe

Seriously, You should look into purchasing a MY07 - 11 ECU on ebay.
swap it with your MY12.

someone did the similar method.
It will be a better route to wait for Hondata.

Good Luck

Thank you for the advice. If that will work, it will be a good path to take.

I still would like to know why the 2012 ECU's are different than the other years. Thank you for the help.

Hondata Said No Dice

Ok, spoke with Hondata and they said that an ECU swap between a 2012 and an earlier model is a no go. It cannot be done according to them.

If someone has done this here on this site I am interested in how it was done. In the meantime, I am looking at other ways for similar gains. I am very interested in a cpe CAI and downpipe. Would a downpipe make similar gains without swapping the rest of the exhaust? My understanding was the downpipe was the largest issue, but I am entertaining the best (safe and reliable) bangs for the buck.

The more important question is do they know what they are talking about. I want to believe they are knowledgable, but I wish they would commit one way or another so I could decide on what to do.

Forget hondata, get a downpipe and you'll see similar if not better gains. At least that is what I've understood from other posts.
