Aem fic for the rdx

Look what goodies came in for me today.

I order the CP&E intake also.
Need to recover more for the boomslag plug and play wire and thinking if bigger injectors is really needed.

Hondata left everyone hanging with just a reflash.

Hopefully the AEM FIC gets tune good-I will be happy with around 400 ponies under the hood. ~

400 ponies on a 4 banger? that's going to be tough without an aggressive tune. I had 320 on my WRX and it broke on one misshift =-(. Well I can only wish you luck and hope all come out as planned. Thank God I am broke because I would probably be following you in your MOD quest. LOL Keep us posted.

Nice! Now this might give a chance for people with RDX to upgrade turbos with something tunable!

JC, post up the results when you can. Leading edge stuff? You are defining the limits!

No missed shifts with our trans so that is no worry.

Diff housings? See if DTE has or can fab a diff brace if you ever find the need.

Cold air will help so it is time to open and duct the pass side fog light grill for a true CAI.

It will make a huge difference as the CPE intake moves the inlet to old air filter box area and much higher temps than at the front of the engine bay next to side of rad.

You may need more I/C though.

Even close to those number like 375- I will be pretty happy until I get there.
Only main concern is if the stock injectors can go up to those numbers without getting max out.

Checking to see if bigger injectors and fuel pump is needed.

I just purchase the CP&E intake and already have the ETS TMIC.
Waiting for the CP&E which will come in sometime this week.

Weapon R with the AEM filter will be up for grabs afterwards.
My weapon R is modded by Chris @ Weapon R.

No code issued and does not hit the ECU. (Enough clearance)

It would be at least another month or two.
I just order the custom plug and play harness from boomslag.

My wallet is hurting and needs to rest for a bit.
You waited this long already - what is a month or two more.

Might be sooner than I thought.
Boomslag email me my tracking number.

Should be getting the plug and play harness next Monday.
I email / call the tuner to see when he is available for the dyno/tuning.

Can't wait since I have the greddy boost controller install but on off mode all this time.

JCRDX, I contacted AEM to double check a few things about this setup, and this is what they said:

Does the ECU reside in the cabin of the RDX? Also, can you confirm Hall effect cam/crank (K series)? I believe the custom harness may have put that project you looked at back to a distributed ignition, in which case the 30-1911 would not work. If the cam/crank is like the K-Type and the ECU is in the cabin, the 30-1910 might work.

The Stock harness for the AEM FIC is not long enough.
Even with their attachment harness 30-2985 24" lead only - also it won't be plug and play.

The boomslag is plug and play that is 6 feet long.
Enough to store inside the car cabin.

I check with AEM also -
Their response

The pin-outs between the units are identical; the only difference between the two is that the 30-1911 uses "cam2" input for your cam input instead of "cam 1"

I check with a Acura tech that owns a RDX - He confirm that the RDX has mag also.

Who did you speak to in AEM?

Ok.. marketing department is a little different from the tech dept.
I spoke with the guys in the tech. The unit is the same beside the mag part.

I already confirm that rdx has mag from a acura tech.

I don't think you get it.

I spoke with the AEM TECH and was advised the following-

"It’s a universal unit so it’s designed to be used on just about any vehicle. However, we have not tested it on that particular vehicle, nor have I talked to anyone with your exact vehicle running an F/IC."

Noone from AEM can confirm if this unit would work or not with the RDX since most of their unit are universal.

I will be the first one that will be trying this piggyback.
So by you speaking to them; they will just say the same-nothing more and nothing less.

Ok - AEM FIC install inside the car today thru the firewall.
(Unplug until the actual tune/dyno day)

I can't believe Boomslag did not cover the wires where the clips goes.
(with the price I paid for the custom harness)
But the turn around time was very quick -1 day to make.

I had to go to autozone and purchase a roll of wire conduit and wrap the wires in case it gets too hot in the engine bay and melt the wires.

I wrap each wire clip and wrap electric tape around it.
I will double it up once the final tune is done and the AEM FIC is in place.

I will snaps some pictures once everything is done as the Unit is under my seat for now.
Easier access for the tuner to reset and plug in the USB port for the actual date.

Just waiting on the Tuner when he can get the Awd dyno in place.

yes post pictures and all the parts needed for the piggie back because i really need to tune my car bad. I have heard that the piggie back system will not work with the rdx because the stock system will over write the piggie back and try to make it back to stock. But still if you can find a way to make it work cool and i would like to try it too when its all set and done so good luck bro.

That is the link but you can't pick the Acura RDX.
You need to send a email to get a cost for it.

Only one way to find out.
Waiting on the AWD dyno availability.

I have it install (unplug) and ready to go
Original tuner flake on our appointment and gave me a flat rate.

Than change the pricing afterward. (Higher)
After I remind him about the original pricing - he try to make excuses and claim that he will honor it if he can find another person to dyno the same day.

There are a bunch of good tuners in the area with solid reviews and strong background.

I need to charge my digital camera for the tuning/dyno day.

Out of the box the FIC should have all parameters at '0'. So while you are waiting on the dyno you could plug it up and see if the car at least starts without throwing a check light. I would have to do something while waiting I dunno, maybe the FIC needs some form of setup configuring maybe.

I am waiting on the new tuner for the availability of the AWD dyno for this Saturday.

I am ready - one of my other friend has a guy that does street tuning but he is located a 3 and 1/2 hours away from me.

I heard AEM FIC does not mix well with street tuning.
I would prefer to do it right the first time and have a dyno sheet for keeping.

I guess the AEM FIC is up for sale if anyone is interested in this project or any NSX lurkers.

So pissed.
