Wheel Spacer Installation
Wheel Spacer Installation
Hello,
With my new tires and rims I thought the last thing needed was some good wheel spacers to move the tire out further from within the wheel well. I know spacers are a controversial and personal choice so if they are not for you great, if you would like my opinion they are safe, work fine, and give the stance of your car a more aggressive look. I would prefer a hub centric wheel spacer, one that is made for an RDX specifically, and has a lip in the hub that mats on directly to the rim.
I have posted before and after pics within an album under my profile. Since I cannot post attachments in the thread if someone would move a couple of them over that would be great.
This is an easy install. Remove the wheel, place the spacer over the existing studs and tighten. The spacer has its own set of studs that you will then bolt the tire too. Put the tire back on. You chould sand the rotor and the spacer where they mat just to make sure it is smooth, and you should also put some anti-sieze on all of the spacer and car studs so they will come off easily.
Some company's claim they help distribute the center of gravity for better handling ,etc, and somehow I personnally dont think 25mm per wheel will improve handling. For me it is purely for looks as I like how with this size the tire is almost flush with the body.
Spacer come in many sizes, brands, etc. For the RDX, I did alot of research on what others have done and it seems 25mm size works the best if all you are looking for is a flush look. Again, go with hub centric specific to your car and not some generic that has the possibility of moving around if your bolts loosen up.
I bought my spacers, an alluminum alloy, from E-bay for $75 a pair with free shipping. If anyone wants the link to their store I will provide.
Thanks!!
