XM Traffic Not showing on NAV

My XM and XM NAv traffic is paid up. All of a sudden the traffic does not show up on my Nav screen. That traffic bubble on bottom of NAV screen is gone. And no traffic updates on NAV screen either. It was working fine for 6 months. I called XM and they did a refresh with no luck. The trraffic reports DO come on...on the xm channels. They say take to dealer if refresh doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

He is referring to the bubble within the scale bar.

It happened to me once during my first week of ownership. But it came back the next day and never happened again.

I was having the same issue - you need to make sure you have the traffic icons turned on. It was bugging the heck out of me until i figured it out.......

can you elaborate? I usually go through the voice command, or to the traffic under "info" i think but I never found it easy. I don't need it all the time, but have called upon it more then once in 2 1/2 months. I never had a "bubble". Perhalps The capital of New York is not registered for real XM traffic. I never checked that!

Maybe I should mention, I don't have the scale bar on, nor can I find it. What world and I in? I can only see one huge scale map, no scale bar to toggle.

while you have the map displaying, turn the "enter" knob to scale the map. Scale bar shows on the bottom of the map. You have to be within the traffic "bubble" in order for the nav to show traffic info.

You can enable the traffic on the display either by using the "Show traffic" voice command or clicking on the jog dial, selecting "Show Icon on Map" and then choosing the traffic choice (I think it is the left-most choice).

When the traffic icons are on you only see them when at certain zoom levels. With the map showing you can turn the outer ring on the jog dial to zoom in and out. While you are turning the dial and for a short time after you stop turning it, you see a horizontal scale bar that shows your former and new zoom levels and which has a range labeled "traffic". You only see the traffic on the map when you are at a zoom level that falls within that labeled range.

holy sh..t. I can't believe I never realized that all this time. Now I see the bubble. I NEVER saw any accidents listed, so assumed it wasn't working. I also just realized that the traffic shows all the time color coded. I never put that together. I just assumed interstates were red

While fooling with everything, I found that if I changed the daytime color of the nav screen to "beige" it shows up much better in day light.

I also learned that if you "click" on an exit icon in green, it shows all the close srvice stuff off the exit ie: food, lodging and gas. So you can plan the best exit for food ahead.
