XM satellite problem

I searched but could not find an answer.I know that there
is a problem with the soldering on the RDXs.Would this cause
no sound to come out with listening to XM?The speakers play when listening to FM and AM just not when listening to XM.
Thanks

Are you sure your XM has been activated by the dealer? I am assuming that whenyou hit the XM button, no audio at all comes on?

It's not a XM issue because mine was operational this morning on my commute.

I would say it's time to start making a list and then bring your RDX back to the dealer for warranty service.

For my TL, I would keep a short list of things that added up - granted, if you can't live without your XM, I would just take it in ASAP. Hell, you're paying for the service so you might as well get your unit fixed.

Can you tell me anything more about this XM reception problem?
Did this occur during your whole drive?
Where were you when you started the car? Garage? Car port? Driveway?
Did you see XM song title and artist information change?
I may have seen this problem before.

I started my car in the garage, when I turned
on the radio a preset XM station appeared on the screen
but no sound at all.clicked other presets and the same
thing happened, switched over to FM w/o any problems.
Did not turn on the XM until next day, again in the garage and
it worked fine.
As a side note, does anyone know why sometimes the
display will tell you the song and artist and other times
it wont?

XM is a satellite service and won't work when the antenna is blocked. In my RDX and silverado - if i get stuck under an overpass at a light - XM can't recieve the signal - ie no sound... Completely different that recieveing am or fm stations.

It is likely that in your garage you are receiving a very weak signal. It is a microwave signal after all and can penetrate most materials. Moving your car just one foot can make a difference on receiving or not receiving the signal.
Note: you should be able to turn on your XM in the garage and it would start playing as soon as you left your garage.
Note: song title and artist are updated by XM, the channel name and channel number are saved by the receiver, so the channel name and number are easy to recall but the song title and artist must wait to be updated by the XM broadcast. You can wait up to 3 minutes depending on the quality of the signal.
Hope this helps...
