USB interface - playing order question

USB interface - playing order question
Curious if others have encountered this issue playing audio files on a flash drive through the USB interface.
I have all the music sorted into folders. A few folders have subfolders, not sure if that's significant. The files are all in the proper playing order when sorted alphabetically/numerically - no playlists used. (For example, the filenames in the folder "Dark Side of the Moon" are called "1. Speak to Me.mp3," "2. Breathe.mp3," etc.) But it seems when the audio system opens a folder, what it considers track 1 is not the actual first sorted file. For most folders, its idea of track 1 seems to be about 3 or 4 files from the beginning, for a few folders it seems to be about 3 or 4 files from the end, and I can't seem to discern any pattern in how it makes this determination, other than it's always the same for each folder.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? What did you do to resolve? (Would a playlist take care of it?--does the system even recognize playlists?)
The USB plug-in is such a great feature but I have to say it seems to have more than a few frustrations. (E.g., why couldn't they have programmed this thing to play FLAC files??)

Quite frustrating! Weeks later and I *still* can't figure out how this thing is ordering folders or files. The files get played in alphabetical order yet never starting with A. The order of the folders seems completely random.

Same issue with TL. You can search for it here on AZ, but I don't think anyone has solved the problem.

I am consistently AMAZED at how these factory USB interfaces can't even do the most basic things that even the cheapest MP3 player can do. It's like the guy that designed the interface never used an MP3 player. I just don't know what Acura/Honda was thinking.

how to reorder the way USB plays
To make sure the USB players in the order you want it to play, place a number in the file name.
Like this:
1 Vanish Disk 1
2 Vanish Disk 2
3 Vanish Disk 3
If not the playback is according to some random order (I think last recorded first played or something like that.) With the number, it will play 1 Vanish Disk 1 then 2 Vanish Disk 2 then 3 Vanish Disk 3
