Remote Wire for Amp

Remote Wire for Amp
I've read through a lot of the install write ups in this section, but one thing I couldn't find was a straight forward explanation of where the remote wire is ran from. I saw someone do it directly to the fuse, which looks ghetto and probably isn't good practice. I've added a kicker shallow mount to replace the factory sub, and now I'm going to add an amp with a lineout converter.
I've got a good understanding of everything except the remote wire. Do I need to run this to the back of the headunit, or is there somewhere else I can tap into, that's not the fuse. Am I correct in assuming it's not wise to hook it up to the fuse?
Side question on the lineout converter - it has 4 wires, right+ right-, left+ left-. I was assuming I'd just hook up r+ and l+ to the posi speaker wire and r- and l- to the negative speaker wire. Is this correct? I'm assuming the sub handles both left and right channels.

If I remember correctly the oem amp has two/three separate outputs for the door speakers, i.e. the frequencies are crossed over in the amp and then sent to the respective speakers.
