Nav/Firmware Release Notes

Does anyone know if 'Acura' posts release notes on software/firmware updates for the navi update disks? Given that they clearly include firmware on those disks, I'd love to see what bugs they fix and other changes are made. I'm not talking about the map and POI updates here. I suspect they include firmware updates and bug fixes for the navi DVD drive, mp3 player functions and bluetooth - but since the ELS system is made by Panasonic and the navi system is made by Alpine, I'd be surprised to find the release notes in one place unless Acura posts them. Any thoughts?

The only firmware change that I've heard about is changing the dates for daylight saving time.

Yes - I heard about that one too. I suspect there are others, but we just haven't heard about them because we don't have access to the release notes.

I'm just trying to decide whether to take advantage of this $150 deal to upgrade. It just seems odd that they are offering the deal - unless there is a big upgrade just around the corner...but even that is doubtful given their track record.

I went for it. The thing "upgraded" itself in a few minutes. However, I checked a few locations where I knew of road reconfiguring (moved intersections, etc), and they had one, but missed another. Kind of sad for a $150 upgrade.

I think they're offering the deal because of the dropping prices and the competitiveness of portables.

Hehe...they have a LONG way to go to be competitive. The upgrade should be $50 - or even free given the price we paid for the system - if they truly want to compete.

The portable functionality nowadays is sick compared to this thing.

That said, I went for the upgrade too. I figured my data was 3 years old, and I still have to deal with the daylight savings thing - so I'd like that fixed.
