Maximum Volume

What's the maximum you turn your volume up?
For me it's 32.

Is that with the tech package?
past 32 and it sounds like the speakers will blow. Good to know I can go that high.

Well it also depends on the volume level of the music you're listening to. When download tunes from iTunes I actually enhance the volume a little as a lot of the songs, I find, are of low volume. I've actually never had to go past 21 and that's having the music cranked with windows open and getting plenty of sound. Can't imagine what 40 must be like.

Already, I have turned it up past 40 but keep it around 32-35 I think.

Not sure what you guys are listening to, but that is plenty for me. Mind you, I rarely drive with the windows down.

lol well im around 30 all the time with the windows up, you open the windows a bit and it flattens the twiddlers out big time and lose alot of sound.

I'm starting to wonder if there are some serious variations in the Acura sound systems. Previous threads have practically come to blows, with some people saying their ELS system is the best they've ever heard and others dismissing it as junk. Now we hear that some people find a volume level of 6 to be perfect and others saying they regularly set it to 30.

In my car, 5 is the right level for listening to the music but still being able to have a conversation. 10 is great for cruising, and I'll go to 15 if I'm really jamming out. With the windows down I've gone as high as 20 or 25, but the one time I tried 30 it was literally painful. And I'm a DJ who spends fair amounts of time in extremely loud environments!

I must be an old stick in the mud... I keep mine at 4 usually. With the speed sensitive volume, I can hear everything just fine. Occasionally turn it up to 5 or 6. This is for FM radio, btw.

Although I usually stay in teens for most driving, with my 07 TL Type S I was sometimes disappointed with 40 as a max. Seemed that it was not a linear progression after 25 and it flattened out somewhat. I even asked the dealer to recommend an audio shop to investigate a beef-up. Felt that the system as a whole was a little overrated, although certain DVD A's were very good. I hate to say it but my Ford Lightning can sound very good although it lacks the surround aspects of the TL.
I am looking forward to testing the new 440 watt system in the 2010 TL that I will pick up tomorrow.

I'm with DJ and wspy, however, isn't the EQ setting a key variable in this equation?

Excellent point, and I can't believe I didn't bring it up before. I have my bass set to max, my treble set to min, the side speakers set to normal, the front speaker set to min, and the subwoofer a few notches below the max. I've found that with the front speaker on anything but min the sound is far too focused up there. And with my bass-heavy music, the subwoofer starts to clip if I leave it set higher, which is where I like it most of the time.

either way you slice it, the audio system is sub par. not good at anything. way too much equalization involved. the ELS gen 2 is much better, but still not close to some other cars. I find the base system better than the ELS in the RDX because it just sounds better inside the car and i think the twiddlers are more effective. thats my opinion. The center channel is so out of whack with the rest of the system, and the system on the whole just does not sound right, at any level w/any EQ.

im pretty sure that every single honda/acura ive owned, they have not made a system that doesnt distort and fall apart very easily - yes many stock systems you could say the same thing, but i still find audio to be one of the weakest spots of the brand, what would it take to put a quality amp in the friggin thing w/speakers that can handle the output. the components being used now are cheap garbage, the ELS speakers in the RDX blow all the time. the ELS 2 is a move in the right direction however, you compare that to even the Hyundais Lexicon system, or the B&O in Audi...eh

Yes, I'm some where between 25-30 when rolling with windows up or down and the rear deck lid is out for better bass.

I play mine at 16 - 22, but it is loud enough people standing on sidewalks start dancing and other cars owners look and this is with the windows up. I am just a rock n roll girl..

With a DVD-A, it is crankin' in the 13-19 range and is just incredible at 25+... clear to 40

Since I installed the amps and speakers, 10-12 is a nice jam with windows down. OF course when I hear some Sabbath, Priest or Metallica its about 30. When I get some old school hip/hop/rap like Sugar Hill/Too Short or something, I crank the base, set it at about 35 and annoy everyone around me, just cause I can (lol)
