Major Feedback from Audio System
Major Feedback from Audio System
2 week old RDX. I posted earlier about a dead battery - which was jumped this morning, now another issue.
I am getting very loud feedback from all of the speakers - it sounds like a series of very loud thumping sounds coming from all of the speakers. This happens anytime the Nav system speaks a command, any time I press the talk button to give a voice command, or if the radio is turned on while the nav is on.
I'm at the dealer now where they are looking at the charging system and the audio issue.
So far, I am very disappointed with these two issues given this is a brand new car. Let's hope they are resolved. I will post an update.

Disappointing, huh? I had a Saab 9-3 SE Vert which didn't get off to a blazing start either...three different stereo head units and a battery later, all was good and it was a reliable car that never had another issue. However, in those first few months when it was losing battery strength and blowing head units, it was disappointing.
Good luck and hope your RDX makes a turn for the good!

Not great news - dealer has no idea what it is and neother does Acura's Tech line. So they will keep the car and pull the entire nav and audio system and replace. The battery cells were normal. Looks like I'll have a loaner for a few days.

ravemother -- there should be a metal plate attached underneath the front of your windshield toward where the dash meets the windshield...should be on driver's side. That's your VIN = Vehicle Identification Number. The last five digits are what you want to look at; for example, if those numbers are 03811, this tells you your car was the 3,811th RDX manufactured in the 2007 model year.

VINs seem to have stalled around 14000 in my area since late November. In fact, I have not seen any new RDXs show up at three local dealers. They each have 40-50 RDXs that have been around since September/October or longer. I am getting the impression they are not ordering new ones.
Well here is the update. Dealer service is baffled. Acura corporate is getting involved and flying 2 techs in from SoCal to look at the car on Monday. No one knows what's up. I"m starting to get bummed out. This was a 30k+ purchase and my faith in Acura is being shaken.
The dealer initially told me that they would swap out sound system and nav, and now they are saying that Acura corp tech wants to look at it first before anything is done because they are worried that other cars my have this issue as well.
Does anyone have the # for Acura Consumer affairs- I figure it wouldnt hurt to call them.
UGH!

It sounds like your dealer, and Acura, are being very responsive. The dealer tried to work it out and couldn't, so now Acura is taking action. I know it sucks, but it seems like they will work it out.
I wouldn't start complaining to Acura when they are moving.
I had a situation where the Honda dealer ignored my repeated requests to investigate a problem. I called Honda and they got the dealer to listen to me and ultimately diagnose and repair my car.
Your situation is much better.

It took a week, a visit from a field rep and an acura engineer, but the problem was finally identified. It was a faulty amplifier in the sound system. It was replaced at the dealer and the car is good to go.
So far, the most common problems I have read here with the RDX are with the speakers, the battery and no-starts, weak-starts, and the DVD player.
Kudos to Concord Acura for fixing the issue and being responsive.
