Ipod Integration on 2009 non-tech RDX

I have a 2009 non-tech RDX, looking at Ipod integration at the expense of the XM radio.

I am considering the iSimple GateWay (PXAMG) by peripheral. However, their site lists compatibility with 2007-8 RDX, but does not list 2009.

I am under the assumption that there should be no difference with the 2009 RDX-- noticed that a few competing kits DO say that they are compatible with 2007-9.

Is my assumption correct? Anyone add Ipod integration to a non-tech RDX? If so, what year is the RDX, and what device did you go with?

Thank you for any reply.

well i guess i assumed wrong-- best buy was the only place i could find locally with the iSimple GateWay (PXAMG) by peripheral bundled with the acura plug, but the installer was unsuccessful with it.

i try not to make a habit of replying to my own replies, but i am surprised that the install was unsuccessful-- the 2008 and 2009 radios look identical installed in the dash. i wish i stuck around in the install bay to see what was going on. i think i'm just going to have to pull it out and take a little looksy for myself to satisfy my curiosity.

Give it a shot. It's pretty easy to take the console apart and get the radio out. There are pdf's of the takedown in the DIY section. When I installed the PXAMG in my 2008 RDX tech, it took a few minutes to initialize, and it was NOT intuitive how to get it to show up on the screen. Discouraged, I scoured the net, and figured out how to bring up the menus, and toggle between the XM radio, HD Radio, and AUX. It's sweet now.

Why not call the company to verify that it's compatible with a 2009 RDX? Might save you a lot of time.

I used the MusicLink pdf to describe how to get to the back and disassemble the console. It's in the sticky, but here is the direct link:
https://hondacuraworld.hostasaurus.c...xmusiclink.pdf

I installed the pxamg gateway box, and HD module behind the glove box where the pdf describes bringing the interface cable out.

I brought my ipod connection cable for the interface out through a preexisting hole at the bottom of the console right next to the passenger seat front rail, and have it going up to a proclip adaptor on the Right side of the console.

thank you for your reply. getting the radio out was easy with the directions you pointed me toward.

i have not had success yet with the install-- the module seems to be charging an older nano i have and a touch, but it doesn't recognize them yet. i updated the module and my ipods are current as well.

when i switch from fm to xm, there is now a pause for a few seconds, before it reverts to xm radio-- i presume the module is looking for an ipod but somehow not finding it.

i will tinker some more with it over the next day or two.

That's where I left stumped too. You have to do the fm-->xm toggle to get it into the cue mode, and then you can toggle the button just below the fm button to choose sat, xm, ipod, or hd radio if you installed that. It reverts to xm if you don't toggle in a few moments. Once you get it into the mode you want then press display, and it will show the title/song/playlist in the nav and upper screen. good luck...it's not intuitive at first.

I recently installed the PXAMG in my 2007 RDX/Tech. It works beautifully. The one problem I had was my mistake in reading the directions. It states to turn the tuning knob when first switching to XM. This is to find the ipod setting. The control they are referring to is the tuning BUTTON (NOT ROTATING KNOB) in the lower right of the radio. You have 4 seconds to do this before it reverts to XM. Once I figured out how to find the ipod setting, it works fine.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you PdxRdx and HotFlyer.

I agree, the controls are not intuitive but very manageable. I'm impressed with the sound quality.

I will eventually post a few pictures to include the 2009 non-tech radio back.

Final step is to hide the module better and secure it, as this was only a test run to see if I could actually get the device to work.

Excellent! Glad it's working. It stows well in the slot behind the glove box. i have to agree about the sound. I've been very pleased with it and the hd radio that goes with it.
