Inconsistent NavTraffic coverage in socal
I was hoping that NavTraffic would help me deal w/ the dreaded "Orange Crush" on my daily commute to work. For the most part it has. However, I have noticed that the coverage is inconsistent. There are mornings where I will not receive any traffic information for certain sections of the freeways (5, 55, 405) and then have it appear again on my drive home or the next morning. This will definitely be a factor as I decide whether or not to renew my subscription. Does anyone else experience this or have any ideas what might be causing this?
The nav traffic relies on data sent from whoever controls the highways. For example here in VA, XM has to receive the data from VDOT (VA Dept of Transportation). I get the same thing here, probably a few days out of the month route 66 information isn't displayed on my nav traffic, but the rest of the time it is fine. And even when I can't see the route 66 information, I can always see the info for 495 (Capital beltway) and other roads.
Funny, it's rare that I don't see I66 but I395 is sometimes missing. I95 from Springfield to the WW has been missing for a while. It's one of the those things that you have lived without but now that you have it....I would miss it.
