HFL Compatible Phones?

So has anyone else found Acura's HFL testing to be a complete joke? By the time a phone finishes testing, it's no longer being sold by the carrier. Does anyone have any idea what takes Acura so long to test?

I've been looking to upgrade my phone for a while now, and my first step is always to go to the HFL site to get a list of phones for that vendor that seem to fit the description of what I want. Inevitably, I then go to the carrier and find maybe one phone still being sold.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it for us to start our own list and make it a sticky. We could share RDX year, Nav DVD version if applicable (so we can compare firmware 1:1), phone make, model, and any known incompatibilities. Any takers? Unfortunately, all I can offer to start it off is that my 4 year old Verizon Razr V3c works flawlessly with all features.

I've paired 3 different types of phones to the rdx and never had an issue with any of them. I don't think phone testing is required, just buy what ever phone you want, pair and goo.

If its a Windows Mobile device you will not have any issues, that I can guarantee.

That Acura HFL site is odd. I used to have a Samsung M500 and it worked perfectly even though the site says "Not Compatible". I currently have an HTC Touch Diamond ...not on the list but I don't have any problems (PS. Who wants to see my cool Acura-theme WM theme? ).

OK, now if I can vent for a moment...why, oh why, can't Acura put out a firmware update to allow Bluetooth audio? Honestly, how hard is it. I'll even pay the dealer to do it if necessary. /vent

you know something like that would be practically free to acura, and make their vehicle that much more marketable...they just don't make much sense sometimes

Hmmm....how much is that guarantee worth? My wife has a Windows Mobile phone that won't work with my RDX. It's a Verizon XV6700 that she's had for like 3+ years. My Razr works fine, but hers won't reliably reconnect.

Her phone is primarily the reason why I watch the testing pages. I don't live on my phone like a lot of people and never walk around talking on it....in fact, I rarely break double digits in minutes monthly. I buy it purely so I can use it with my RDX HFL. Most of the time, I just leave it in the car. The last thing I want to happen is to be stuck with a phone that doesn't work reliably with the HFL.

Windows Mobile 2003? or Mobile 6.0-6.1 ? With windows os you have tons of flexibility on custom roms and updated bluetooth drivers

Windows Mobile 5.....I've updated the firmware once, but it didn't fix the problems. She also has problems with a bluetooth speakerphone I bought her. If there's a solution for reliability, I'd love to hear it. I did a ton of searching when I first couldn't get it to work with the RDX and I never found a solution. I eventually gave up.

See if you can get a custom rom, check http://www.xda-developers.com

WM6 would be great, I beleive wm5 and 6 are using microsoft bluetooth stack so i dont see why you are having issues.

Does it not pair at all?

It pairs just fine, but when you walk away or turn off the car and then come back, it doesn't reconnect. Sometimes I have to turn the bluetooth off and on again, sometimes I have to re-pair it. It's just not reliable...

I'll check the website - thanks for the tip.

Just purchased the AT&T - Nokia E71X and paired it with my '08 RDX (with Tech) last night. Caller ID, Battery & Reception Levels all show up on the display. I am able to make and receive through HFL.

HTC Touch phone

Just purchased a 2008 TL Navi. My HTC phone paired without with HFL without problems, but I am not able to transfer my phonebook using the import function. When trying to import, I get the message that this function is not compatible with my phone.

Has anyone imported their contact lists using an HTC Touch?

Pretty much any phone that supports the Bluetooth headset profile will work in the RDX.

How I wish that was true. There are so many variations that some features do not work with all phones, or reliably. My wife has one such phone, and there are many others. Heck, even Apple did an update to the iPhone a while back that broke some functions - but they were apparently fixed in the next release.

With the newer generation of smart phones hitting the market, I am having difficulties finding a Bluetooth compatible phone for my 2006 RL. My previous HTC phones worked great (Touch, Touch Pro) as did my Palm Treo. However my Sprint HTC Hero cuts off the call when trying to answer an incoming call...scratch that one. So I tried a Palm Pre. Seemed to work well, however after three or four calls I have to reset the phone's bluetooth to get it to work again. Most annoying. Last week I asked the dealership if they happened to have any sort of firmware update, the answer was no.

I have a Palm Pre, have you updated the Pre's operating system?

There have been improvements to its bluetooth system.

I also had problems with my palm pre sometimes disconnecting but it usually worked fine. Recently moved to a Samsung Nexus S 4G (Android) and haven't had any pairing problems at all. Working great. I think most, if not all new phones will work fine with the HFL. If you're concerned, I'm sure the store will let you run out and test a demo phone with your car real quick.
