I've had my RDX exactly 3 weeks and already a problem... my real time traffic isn't working, which is one of the main features I wanted in the tech package. It worked for about one week, but now, nothing. It's weird because my XM radio works fine, and the nav itself works fine, which seems to indicate that the unit itself is fine; it's only the real time traffic which isn't working. I took the car to the dealer and they had XM re-send the signal, and I also tried that, but it hasn't solved the problem. The sales guy was mystified and suggested I bring it in for diagnostics, which I probably will do, but I just thought I'd inquire here first. All related settings appear to be ok, but oddly, sometimes the traffic and traffic icons show up on the screen and sometimes they are grayed out, preventing any selection- and their appearance or disappearance seems random and intermittent. Are there any experts here who might know what the problem is and how to rectify? My thinking is that it's something about the XM signal, and my research tells me that the XM radio and real time traffic are two separate signals, which suggests maybe it's only the traffic signal which I'm having problems receiving... anyway, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks.

oh, and in addition, when I ask for real time traffic, I get a message that there isn't any traffic information within 30 miles, which in the Philly area, I find very hard to believe...

i had the same problem a few weeks after I got the car.
I even posted a question on the subj here. An XM refresh was recommended, but didn't help.
After a week or so, it just came back again.
so just be patient

 

same prob here, did 1 refresh worked spontaneously for 3 weeks, another refresh and it finally worked

 

Thanks for your suggestions. I took the car in today so the technician can have a look. More thorough research on this site and others indiicates mine is not an isolated problem, as you've said. Hopefully, Acura will fix it, although I'm not entirely sure it's really their fault... makes me not want to renew the XM when my trial is up...

 

well mine was when i renewed my xm from the trial membership, but since it was fixed the second time no problems...just an fyi o and real time traffic is def worth it (i like to travel)

 

just talked to the service department- seems I have a 'bad' xm box so they will replace it. hopefully, that will solve the problem- I'll find out tonight. thx for the help. I miss my vehicle!

 

Do you guys know if the Real Time Traffic works in Canada? Never saw it working on my RDX!!?!

 

sorry, I can't help you with your question... I am the original poster. I did get my xm box replaced at no charge and now real time traffic works wonderfully. If you push the center knob on the nav unit IN and are within the traffic detection range of 1/2 mile - 5 miles (I think) you should see it on your map. or say 'display traffic' and it should show up if you have it... hope this helps.
