Has anyone installed the Honda and Acura SIRIUS Connect HON-SC1 SCC1 Package?

It seems like a dream come true. I would love to get rid of my Sirius Sportster that I have mounted to my windshield and have it integrated into my RDX. I wonder if it displays the song on the MID like it does with the XM? Just being able to change the station with the steering wheel instead of reaching (Stretching really) to hit a button on my Sirius would be worth it!

Has anyone installed this?? It lists the 2007 + for the RDX!

Yes, installed it

I installed the HON-SC1 and SCC1 on Tuesday. I'm pretty thrilled to be listening to Howard through my Acura ELS radio... but here are a few notes to consider:

1. The technician had a tough time finding the XM transmitter. In the RDX, it is located behind the the glove compartment box (just like in the Honda CRV), not in the back right quaterpanel as it is in the Pilot/MDX.

2. Obviously you sacrifice the XM navtraffic... but for me it wasn't much of a sacrifice. And no, you don't magically get Sirius navtraffic.

3. Presets work... but on the Audio screen the channel names disappear. For example, preset one can be Howard100, but while you're listening to preset one, it won't show the names for presets two-six. Again, not as big a deal.

4. My steering wheel channel changer doesn't navigate from preset channel to preset channel, but instead navigates from channel to channel. I actually like this a little better.

5. Finally... I'm having a bit of difficulty with the channel scan button on the radio. Changing from channel to channel on the radio is not as smooth as it was when XM works.

So there you go. It's not perfect.... but it hasn't screwed anything up major. All in all, I'm happy I went through with it.

Is the sound quality better than the XM? I can notice that my sirius receiver is less compressed and sounds much better then the factory installed XM. It's hooked up thru the AUX and sounds incredible. Hopefully the module will get better sound quality then the XM.

Hi JasJas,

I'm also looking to do this install in my '08 RDX. Do you have the tech package? I've heard that they are not recommending to install it with tech package (problems with AcuraLink from the sounds of it). I'm really hoping it works, I really can't stand XM.

So when installing the HON-SC1, we don't have to go behind the radio to plug in anything?

Yes, you have to go behind the head unit to plug in the HON-SC1, but it's really very easy.

I tried piggybacking a Dice I-Honda-R4 as well as a HON-SC1 and had no luck when both were connected. I'll probably write up an article once I have a moment with the final outcome.

I had the same issues as jasjas311. But 1 week it later is stopped working completely and had to be reset (I had to open the shifter console). It stopped working again when I turned the car off. I'm hoping it's just a defective unit- will know more when I get the replacement. Also its seemed to me the audio was better with the XM than Sirius. Anyone else have similar issues? 07 RDX w/tech package.

installed

i installed the HON-SC1 about a month ago and had to remove the shifter console to get to the radio and go behind it to disconnect and plug in the sirius connect. not that difficult took like an hour but was worth the time. in my 07 tech sirius sounds 10 times better than did the xm did.

What do I need to Buy?

Hey, folks. It's been a while since I've been around. Can some one guide me on what I need to purchase to convert XM to Sirius. I have an 07 RDX Tech.

GreezWop, you're going to need two things, but you need to decide how you want your sirius setup.

Do you already have a sirius receiver that you want to use with the RDX, or do you plan to purchase a new one? I use my sportster 4 and leave it in the glovebox.

With either setup, you are going to need two items.

The Directed Hon-SC1 is the device which will plug into the back of the receiver and allow you to see Sirius song info on the XM menu display. Think of it really as a converter to allow the RDX to understand the info coming from your Sirius tuner.

As for Sirius tuners, you can either use an existing radio with a special dock (SiriusConnect vehicle kit, not the same as a normal vehicle kit) for the hon-sc1, or a totally behind the dash universal Sirius connect tuner.

Thanks, Jimmypop. I have a lifetime subscription on my current sportster so I think i'll use that one with the HON-SC1 and Siriusconnect. Thanks.

so what are you really losing besides the xm traffic feature when you install this setup in an RDX w/tech? does the acura link do anything worth while?

i hate XM. i have sirius in my other car and want to transfer the account to this car.

I had, in my previous car, a Sirrus ready kenwood headunit that I had the tuner (part that the sirrus antenna attaches to) connected. I too have a lifetime subscription so can I just use the tuner from the old car along with the HON-SC1 to connect to the RDX?

If you already have a subscription (diff car, headunit and tuner) can I just use the tuner from the old car along with the HON-SC1 to connect to the RDX? Or would i have to use a new tuner and try to get them to transfer the subscription from the old tuner to the new?? How would that work??

Hello Mau108! Did you get any responce or find any thing out about if this works on our Canadian RDX's????

Has anyone installed the Honda and Acura SIRIUS Connect HON-SC1 SCC1 Package in Canada and had results??

I was just at my Acura dealership and brought them the Honda and Acura SIRIUS Connect HON-SC1 SCC1 Package info. that I printed of the Net and asked the Tech.'s to look at it! They said that it looks like it would work but had never heard of this or ever done one of these before!

Please any HELP out there would be appreciated!!
