Great new DVD-Audio disc released
I have been listening to this disc in my Acura and the surround sound mix and fidelity are amazing. It's so good in the car that I haven't even played it in the house yet.
It's Porcupine Tree's album "Lighthouse Sun", which just came out. I have to admit that I was not "Porcupine Tree aware" and did not know their music that well, in fact if it were not for DVD-A I would have never even heard of them.
However, this album is so freaking good, and the surround in the RDX is so amazing that I had to post about it. The music is rock, it's modern but it has a universal sound to it so that someone who does not know the group or the album will probably like it a lot.
The surround mix is superb, with voices "floating" around the car, and harmonies all around. The rock guitar, drums, and other instruments are clearly defined and make you want to crank it up. A quiet tune like "How is your life today" seems like a dream in the car.
You have to order this DVD-A from the groups seller "Burning Shed" or from CD-WOW. I don't think you'll find it in a store. I'm not including any links because I'm not shilling for this thing, I just think it's great and for those that are looking for a good DVD-A for their cars, this is it.
Check it out and I think you'll be pleased!

I hear you. I was never much a fan of Queen until I heard 'Dragon Attack' on the 2004 Acura demo DVD-A. Now I have the DVD-A that came from (The Game) plus A Night at the Opera with the infamous 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which I can only describe as giving multiple eargasms to anyone who listens to it.
I'll pick up on Porcupine Tree. They have a couple popular albums, Dead Wing and Fear of a Blank Planet, but like you, I never heard of them.
If you like the sound from your RDX, I'd also recommend Seal's Best 1991-2004, once again not a favorite until I heard it on DVD-A. It has 2 program groups, both in 5.1 surround - the original release and then the acoustic version. On top of that, it also has videos, but you need a video DVD player to enjoy it.

I would actually appreciate a link so that I can get a feel for the type of music we're talking about. Your description makes it sound like a good candidate for an add to my miniscule DVD-A collection, but I don't want to take a chance on something I've never listened to.

Both are links to the UK. I don't think it's available in the USA!
