Altitude

The Navi will display the Altitude if you say "Display Current Location". Does anyone know if one can set up the navi to continuously display the Altitude?

True altitude is most commonly measured as distance above sea level, which is what RDX LA is referring to I hope....

I am curious now -- does the RDX's GPS really use the term altitude? Because it should be using "elevation" if it's a ground vehicle. The term "altitude" is only used in the context of aerial vehicles. Both denote a distance from sea level.

I don't know off hand what term the RDX nav system uses. Could be elevation, but the term altitude is commonly used for both land and air. For example when skiing, most people use the term altitude (altitude sickness). Or another common example would be the cooking instructions on a box of cake mix. Usually there will be a "high altitude" recipe. Mountain climbers also use the term high altitude.

Yeah, I know it's used a lot in general slang (myself included), but land-mapping conventions always use "elevation" (topo contours, etc) which is what I would expect of GPS/Nav systems too. In weather, both elevation and altitude are used, and the distinction is somewhat important there.

I'm humored at the symantics here... they are basically synonomus my

I prefer altitude because in my RDX I'm usually "flying" down the road.
