Acura Remote Start Question/Issue
My remote starter seems to work fine for starting, but the minute I unlock the doors, it stops running. Is this normal? The remote start manual mentions unlocking the door will stop the engine, but I've never heard of a remote start that you need to restart once you get in the car.

I believe this is a safety feature.
1.) you don't crank your car twice. believe me, some will forget.
2.) carbon monoxide poisoning. for example, you can't unlock the car for your kids to climb in while the car is running, running the chance of CO poisoning (of course this will only happen in a small area for long periods of time)

It's pretty lame. I've used dozens of remote starts (including factory models) and none of them shutoff if the doors were unlocked. The whole point of them is to hop in your car, puit the key in and drive. Not stop the car and start it back up in 10 seconds.

I agree with you that it is lame. You should be able to do that. But I disagree that that is the whole point of the remote start. I think the main purpose of remote start is to warm up or cool down the car before you get in or to warm up the engine.

Yeah, that is the point, but it's a bit pointless to have to restart it.
Oh well, it's nice to have a dealer installed unit, even if it is the size of my cell phone. I was just kinda shocked when it kept shutting off when I unlocked it.

Mine is a third party, starts the car, but the remote will not open the doors with the car running - so I need to use either the key, or shut the car off with the remote start and use the remote keyless entry. Additional remote (which I wasn't too happy with), but I get like a 300-500 foot range in the open.

Mine is an Acura factory accessory installed by the dealer.
All other remote starts I've used, you unlock the doors, get in, put the ket in and it will trip some remote start to normal operation and the car will keep running.

I have a third party starter. The installer apparently had a difficult time to get to it work without the alarm going off. The engine stays on, but I cannot use the remote door opener. I have to use the key, unless the the timer kills the engine before hand.
