2008 Canadian Model

Hey for you guys looking for a 2008 Canadian model there is good news. It now comed with Xm radio. I looked at one yesterday. To bad it came to late for me as I have a 2007. I wonder if anyone out there that is not interested in the Xm would be willing to switch stereo head units with me??

It's not just a head unit swap, there is also another satellite radio module as well.

Anyone know what it would cost to have the unit switched at the dealer. I feel a little ripped off that we did not get the XM and real-time traffic in the Canadian 07???

It would cost ALOT. I know the headunit is about $1000 and the XM unit is about $1200. not sure if you would also need a different antenna assembly too which is about $70. You may also need the feeder assembly for another $40 and maybe another wiring harness between the headunit and XM unit. And also maybe something to tie the XM nav traffic into the navigation system.

Oh and that doesn't cover any dealer labor charges.... I think you'd be better off selling your 07 and buying an 08.

Navigation and traffic aside, I'm not too impressed with the XM in my '08 Base model. I'm glad it comes with XM standard though, but the info displayed on the screen in the Base model just seems cheap to me. I've considered getting an XM module that has song playback and a full color display, but that just seems redundant. Then again, I have the Base model with the somewhat cheesy screen, and not a fancier Tech nav screen, so it may be different for the Tech.

In my opinion though, you're not really missing too much. But wow, the head unit and XM units are expensive! I had no idea!
