Would You Do It Again

I believe someone touched briefly on this subject before but I would like to explore it a little further.

For those who have had their RDX's for a year now, if given the chance would you purchase another one? Why or why not?

Thanks,
Wayne

Wow....tough question. I've had mine since Aug of '06. Unfortunately, I'd have to say no - and for one reason alone. Truthfully, I love this car. It's EVERYTHING I wanted and it fits me and my lifestyle perfectly....with the exception of the drivetrain. I'm just sick and tired of the constant downshifting and throttle lag. If this thing had a stick, it would be a no brainer...but alas, the way it is now, I'd have to look elsewhere.

I would be a yes. I love it and it is the perfect match for me right now. I'm single, getting married next spring and planning on having a kid or two in the coming years and the RDX fits right in with all that. By the time the kids are growing up, then I'll be ready for something bigger probably.

Yes, because of reliability, utility, safety, and performance in inclement weather...plus it is fun to drive!

No. It's a great overall car but waaay too much of a compromise for me in the drive train department.

YES! Absolutely! It's perfect for my needs. Love the handling, power, ride, SH-AWD, size, cost. I might have gotten the Navi, but I don't regret it for now. Maybe next time around.

I wish I'd waited for the memory seating. Now if they'd just offer factory rear entertainment, I'd trade it in and get a new one

I don't understand why they don't offer rear entertainment already. I mean they offer it in the TSX. Must be saving it for a 2009 option. But if you really want it that bad, you could always go 3rd party pretty easily.

I wouldn't simply because I don't like purchasing the same car another time. Unless of course the rdx had a whole different look, alot better standard features and was more fuel efficient...then possibly (and I would purchase it south of the border, Canada charges way too much for all cars!)

Only having it since July 2007, I would say I would definitely buy it again if I had it to do all over again. All of my previous daily drivers have been MT's, so it was a nice change to have an auto. Plus, my wife can actually drive this car since she's MT impaired.

The RDX is quick, has superb handling for a small SUV, has great styling and is fun to drive.

Excellent passive safety ratings from IIHS and NHTSA. Excellent active safety ratings from Consumer Reports, Motor Trend, etc.

Sport sedan driving experience with utility of 28/61 cu ft cargo space.

Average 20 mpg overall; reasonable for turbo boosted acceleration and yaw inducing SH-AWD. Getting 27 mpg level highway.

Excellent build quality and zero problems at 19k miles.

Easy and fun to maintain. Routinely changed components (thermostat, etc) are accessible and good tool channels everywhere. Fill and drain plugs are all 3/8 drive or common sockets. (Not #%?@ triple squares like VW/Audi).

Ride quality for enthusiasts -- Buick/Toyota drones will be unhappy.

First Honda I've ever owned and best new car purchase I've ever made.

Looking at the latest small SUV/X-over entrants -- including the EX, Tiguan, Vue Redline -- I'd buy the RDX again (for my wife that is -- I shift my own gears).

I've had an RDX for 3 months that my wife drives. I wished I had waited for the Infiniti EX. From my personal experience, I drive an '07 G35X with navi and tech package. Hands down Infiniti has a better grasp on the technology. Nav, bluetooth, settings, etc. are much, much easier to use than the RDX. I had always heard that Acura had the best Nav system. After having the Infiniti for a year, I can attest that Infiniti got it right in '07 and Acura could take some lessons from them. In addition, the 306 horse v-6 motor gets the same 20 per that the RDX gets.

Having said that, the Acura is a good car and my wife likes it.

yes without question.

nothing is out yet that beats its value. and on top of that, the resale/reliability that comes with the Acura.

as stated in other threads, the EX is nice, but i view it in a different light than the RDX or X3. Our truck is a truck, the ex is a wagon, at best. we have utility and cargo space. that is a plus in my book along with the performance.

I have had mine since February 2007 CBP Tech. Like every Car/SUV/CUV, there are good and bad points, but for me the good far out weight the bad.

I test drove almost every type of SUV/CUV before I purchased the RDX and will not say anything bad about them. For me the RDX was a fit for everthing that I was looking for (tech package and a little more upscale).

So anyway the answer your question, YES I would buy the RDX again, I like ti alot and sure hope that I will have it for years to come.

Love the car but we've had 3 major problems and 1 minor problem. I love driving it but seem to be in a loaner Acura too often.

I would purchase again. The vehicle fit my needs. I wanted a small SUV that can haul decent cargo (trips to Home Depot), sporty type of drive, techy gadgets and a bit of luxurious interior. I was and still is the right car for me and my life.

+1

Wanted to wait for memory seats but my other car kick the bucket a year too early.

One year anniversary 10/31/07.

No memory seats only complaint.

It all depends. If there were only minor upgrades each year to the RDX, I wouldnt buy another one.

Even though I like the exterior look, if they made a new exterior body which looks better than how it is right now, I might say yes.

Definitely not. Not a fan of the drivetrain, or the turbo motor.

I should've got the rav4 V6. I ended getting one anyway, and I greatly prefer driving it over the RDX - which is now my wife's car.

Yes, most likely. If so, I would get the nav next time.

I would also like to have taken a test drive of the G35x sedan as well.

Funny, I did the very opposite. I replaced my 06 TL for the RDX. I miss the TL for many reasons but Im enjoying the RDX.

Apparently the platform that the RDX (and CRV) are built on will not accomodate a 6.

That said, I'm happy with mine and a friend just bought one based on my review (and his own test driving and comparison shopping).

As for the turbo lag, ya just gotta learn how to drive it. Performance driving demands at a minimum sport shift mode to keep the engine on the boost and take advantage of the SH-AWD, and in manual mode I find it can get through the twisties far faster than an SUV has any right to. On the other hand, the suspension is compliant enough to offer up a civil ride if I feel like just putting around.

I'm really glad I went with the RDX over the CX-7 and Edge turds that I test drove.

Epic Fail, I could give two S***s about your lame attempt to bash those cars, everything I said was true, and they ARE considering a V6 option.

I could make a comment about the RDX, but I don't need to, but I will if you want to persist.

yes and no

yes because i love the interior and acceleration and handling.
no because of 1. mediocre paint qualit
2. lack of V6
3. needs memory seats, better gauges (engine temp and temp outside should be constantly displayed, not an option) this is a safety issue
4. coin tray would be nice

so i like it and i probably would buy it again, i just want Honda to execute it properly. The paint is no better than a Honda. Mercedes, BMW, Mazda all have better paint quality.
