Why not rear drive only for 2010 model?

Sounds like there is going to be a FWD version of the '10 model in order to lower the price, increase gas mileage and lower the weight. But as you know, asking the front wheels to both drive the car and steer it is bad for performance. Why not just power the rears? I live in Florida, so I don't need AWD, but I don't like FWD cars. Yes it would weigh more than FWD but all the other pluses would make that the better choice in my opinion.

I agree. I need the all wheel drive around here, but it sure would be nice to have the power directed more to the rear than the front. This the first all wheel drive car that i have owned that has a definite front wheel drive bias. Both Audi and even a Jeep we owned seemed to drive all four wheels with equal power. Which manufacturers have AWDs with a rear bias. Infiniti?

Audi = 40/60 F/R bias.

The reason Acura didn't come out with a RWD platform, and probably won't for a LONG time is because of money. It costs alot of money to build new chassis/platforms for automobiles.

I don't think converting from AWD to RWD would require any change to the chassis, it already accommodates the rear differential etc., and you would free up the front by loosing the front drive.
