What's up with blue?

So we've settled on getting an 08 tech and when I mention blue to the dealers you would think I asked them to find me a car made out of solid gold. "Oh, blue....hmmm....well, we just don't get blue." "Limited production...." "What's your next choice?"

So, is there any chance to get a blue 08 rdx?

Also, what's the deal with everyone telling me that they want to "earn my business." They must have really driven that line in on the training videos.

Hey, if this guy wants to make a sale, he should go to whatever extent to find the one you want. If hes already asking for ur 2nd choice...he must not really want to "earn your bizzz"

i had the same problem with my 07 TSX... i wanted the Arctic Blue Pearl in a 6MT. At first they had no problem telling me it wouldn't be a problem finding it as I handed over my $500 deposit. Then about a week later after I hadn't heard anything from them, they told me it was impossible to find. My guess is they just wanted to get me frustrated so I'd take the Carbon Grey that was on their lot. Dealers for some reason either hate doing trades cuz its an inconvience or because they are known as A$$holes and nobody is willing to help them out. I did my own research and found out that even though it was a hard color/trans to find. there were like 4 on the east coast. I called the dealership and they said they'd be very happy to trade... relayed this to my dealership and then then next day my dealership told me that when they called "the car had just been sold". yeah right. I'm not telling you to settle but consider some other options but PLEASE shop around your area... the dealership I was at knew they had me because of my deposit and also because my trade was in mine and my parents names so after my mom signed off on the trade, she left for tennessee and couldn't come back to sign at a different dealership (bad circumstances on my part). I ended up going with a different dealership who just faxed that info to my mother (and still got screwed over but that another story for another thread) but I still wasn't able to get the blue one I wanted.

Call a few dealerships in your area... tell them what you are looking for and then talk prices with them... tell them you are shopping around and that will certainly make them work harder to earn your business and find you what you're looking for.

your deposit should have been refundable. if you are going to put a deposit down (which, in reality, all the deposit is is a proof of a sale for the sales guy to put on the board for that day in order to get credit, even tho the actual sale hasnt taken place) you should negotiate terms for it to be refundable no matter what conditions, even a change of mindsent.

never get locked into a dealer, they dont need 500, they dont need anything, 10 bucks is as good as a 500 deposit, in essence, its still a deposit.

I totally forgot the RDX came in blue. I see a ton of the other colours on the road, even the occasional red one.

I agree with everyone here. You should be happy with your purchase, and if you want blue, there's no excuse why they can't get one to you.

Are there many other "luxury" cars in royal blue...? Just wondering.

I am sure they second-guessed that color choice....

I had to wait about 4 days for RBP (Lindsay Acura is only about 50 miles from the factory). They did a delivery intercept trade. They took delivery of a RDX destined for another dealer in exchange for one they had ordered. I had a tough time deciding between the RPB and Moroccan Red. I wanted MRP since my TL Type S is KBP, but it's the wife's car and she wanted the blue.

I have had too many silver/grey cars the past few years. It was time for a change.

I had to wait for my 07 in blue last year. I put down the deposit in August and they had one on order, but someone else beat me to it with an earlier deposit. Then they were going to swap with a dealership in Florida, but they sold it before the request went in. So, I opted to wait until they could order another one. I finally received it the end of Oct 07. If you really want blue I'm sure they can get one for you but it might take a little time and you might get a better deal if you take one they already have on the lot. In the year I've had mine, I've only seen one other blue one on the road.

I think it's a deep, nice looking blue. And I know you can get an FX in blue, an X3 in blue....

Wait For BLUE

Blue is not very common for the RDX, but it had a deepness to the color that is unique.

While it is almost as time consuming to keep looking good as black, I find it better looking.

I had a deposit down for over a year before my dealership received a blue/taupe one back in Sept 07.

With the 08s out, they will be making enough blues to meet the demand, check around with other dealers as has been suggested to see if one exists nearby for a trade.

There's a number of them up at Acura of Boston if you in the Northeast. It was my first choice, but since it was the wife's ride, she got to chose Carbon Metallic it was ... I think that that blue is very very nice. Deep color, looks sharp.

Getting your color / option choice - Not so easy.

Dealers for the most part want to make you happy but sometimes it is more complicated than that. I worked for a Saturn dealership for over a year and our dealer trades involved me using my day off to drive sometimes hundreds of miles to bring a car to them and then pickup the car. It wasn't being transferred on one of the car haulers. The buyer would get all annoyed because their car had a few hundred miles on it. Sometimes it just wasn't worth giving up the day off when I could make just as much staying at the dealership plus I could actually get a day off.

I got the same response when I told them I wanted red with ebony. The dealer was like, wow, they really dont make alot in that color, but if there is one in the tri-state area it is yours. But, just in case do you have a second choice. I originally told him I did (Carbon Bronze), he said that was great, because they were getting that in soon. I did a little research and found 3 in the color combo I wanted online. When I called the dealer 2 days later to find out how his search was going I was told "Not so good, doesn't look like I will be able to get it." When I told him I found a few online, he said, oh well we may not do trades with those dealerships. That is when I told him, it had to be red with ebony - find me one or the deal is off. He called me back 15 minutes later with the car. Sometimes they just need a little push. If you find one near by online in blue, call your dealer and tell them you found one or two online, and you were able to, that they should be able to with out an issue. Good Luck!

It took me several months until a carbon bronze/ebony tech was available in Phx. They said that they don't order too many with black leather here. Stoooopid. I checked all the local dealers. nada....

I waited and am glad I did.
