Finally got 16.5 - 17 mpg on my last tank. I was driving like a turtle.
(60mph on the highway)

I drive mostly 75% highway / 25% city.

I drove 100 miles on Tuesday and was able to get 25mpgs...I didn't think it was possible to achieve that...

great info- thanks. was not aware that fuel injectors cutoff when coasting in gear. good stuff. drafting trucks is the only thing I wont do- rock chips! I hear the hondata re-flash leans out the fuel mixture. Did you find yourself getting better mileage after the re-flash?

There must be magic in my current tank of gas (mobil 91). I usually get around 21 mpg doing 80% city, 20% highway. Just recently, my work place moved further away and I'm doing 40% city, 60% highway. Remarkably my mpg is 24.7mpg. What's going on here?? This is a fwd RDX. I have to admit that I purposely accelerate so slow, the turbo doesn't kick in and gears shift at 2k rpm.

Don't ask me how this happened but this weekend driving from Omaha to Kansas City I at one point for about 40 miles hit 30 mpg. by the time I got to the hotel and parked my Avg. mpg was 27.5 mpg. The beginning of the trip I was doing about 60 mph because of traffic, by the end of the trip, closer to Kansas City I was doing 85 mph. I think that's pretty damn good. I snapped a pick with my cell phone to document it. The photo I have shows 30.1 mpg. However, it kept going up at that point and I actually logged 30.2 mpg.

AC is on all the time. i never deactive it. i get in car start it, and the auto light turns on for the climate control. all i change is temprature.

right now with 2000km on new oil, slightly thinner quaker state ultimate, i'm getting 10.7L/100km at 50km/h average speed. That's 21.7MPG. this is the best i ever got for mixed city highway driving. But it could just be that the engine is really broken in now after 4-5 years. I noticed nothing but improvement in performance as my rdx ages. 17MPG is 14l/100km!! that's really bad mileage. are you doing rush hour driving? i can't get that bad of mileage if i wanted to. with bumper to bumper driving 17mpg is normal.

but ya looking at log of my MPG, it has only improved:

12.8l/100km at 33,000km
12.4l/100km at 40,000km
11.7l/100km at 59,000km
11.3l/100km at 70,000km
11.2l/100km at 82,000km
10.7l/100km at 92,000km

those are mileage for about ~7000km intervals (KM the oil change interval was). Driving is 60% highway, SH-AWD, frequent turbo usage (not always full boost). I found turbo doesn't really mess with MPG as much as engine RPM and speed.

I was always around 17MPG in normal day to day driving, 75% city... Even with 100% HWY, the best I got on a full tank (at average 70mph) was between 20-21MPG. That was with K&N, Hondata and driving alone. Before K&N and Hondata, I was closer to 16 and 20. (Hondata/K&N gave me 1.0-1.5MPG better results)

I never babied it, but I also didn't accelerate to red lights or stop signs either.

Hi there. I am getting 19 in the city and 23 hwy. The EX has a huge 20 gal tank too so I get near 400 miles per tank with city driving. I would get about 280 miles per tank in the RDX. (almost 17 mpg)

Still miss the paddle shifters though!!!

I've never gone below 19mpg. I floor it when merging, passing and doing right turns sometimes. Usually 600km on a tank. 100% Highway I get ~9l/100km or 25mpg:

How are you getting such high mpg?? I drive 75% highway and try my hardest not to activate the turbo and still CANNOT get more than 18/19 mpg What are your secrets??

18-19 miles per gallon is a wide range, so which one is it 18 or 19? 19 is understandable, im guessing you do ~75mph highway travel which would definitely give you 19. 18mpg is a bit too low for highway, maybe ok number for 80-85mph or frequent lane changes. It's not the turbo that determines fuel economy, it's engine load.

i don't follow a certain speed limit, i use pulse and glide. you need low rolling resistance tires pumped up 35psi and need to use 5th gear.

Wow, how annoying would it be to be stuck behind the guy in the video?!

I do almost exactly 1/3 back road, 1/3 highway, and 1/3 hard core stop and go city driving on my 60 mile daily commute. I have the Hondata upgrade and K&N panel air filter on an SH-AWD model. I'm seeing an easy mid 25 mpg over a tankful of gas with moderate boosting. If I only do highway driving I can see 27-28 mpg, no problem.

No need for silly driving techniques. Just be smooth in town and use cruise control on the highway set at 55mph. Keeping the highway revs at or under 2,000 will give you the best mileage.

hondata didn't really help my mileage, just smoothed things out. pulse and glide is there for hypermiling, as i said, if you want 29mpg results.

Interesting. I saw an immediate 1 mpg improvement in city and highway with the Hondata and another 1 mpg with the K&N. Maybe you just need to reset your ECU.

Hypermiling in the RDX just seems like a lot of work for little payback. Why do all that just for a 1/29 improvement in mpg and 100% of no fun. Sure my wife can see better numbers than me on the highway, but boy does she drive slow.

Just be smooth and conservative and the RDX will get good gas mileage for it's size and power.

The RDX is a little piggy, if you bought this vehicle because you believed the BS about power of a V-6 with the mileage of a 4 cyl, I have an extended warranty for sale too.

80% highway 20% city. Weekly commute from Philly to DC Fridays w traffic avg 21.5 mpg @ 69mph. w out traffic 19.5 mpg @ 78mph. (except in Md near camera car)

I get 10 km per litre (10.2/100km consistently. I noticed shell gas gives me the best fuel economy. When I use other brands the mileage is often 20% more. The Acura dealer also told me to use shell.

I get horrible mileage. I do a 80% city and 20% highway mix. I usually average 14.6L/100km (16 MPG). The best I have seen is 10L/100km driving from Detroit to Toronto with strictly highway driving. I don't know how you guys get such good mileage numbers. I must have a lead foot.

i don't know...i only get bad mileage like 15L/100km at the track LOL. city the worst i ever got was 12.8L/100km. 70% highway now and i score 10.8L/100km on low rolling resistance tires. use the instant fuel consumption gauge to improve mileage, believe me it works. you don't have to be slow off the line (ie at redlights), be moderate. Use cruise control on flat or downhills.

I got exactly 400 miles on my last tank of gas on 16.7 gallons which comes out to ~24 MPG. About 80% highway and 20% city. Only mod I have now is the CP-E intake.. i've been averaging about 1-2 MPG better ever since I've had it

you should know that while after 400 miles your tank might seem empty as sensors indicate, it actually is not. there is roughly 2-3 gallons left in there. i once did a fill up with low gas light and 0km range indication, it still had 2 gallons in there. so your consumption is actually lower than you think. 25mpg is what i get when doing 80% highway im not sure but i noticed higher consumption with hondata reflash with spirited driving and no difference normal driving.

Just drove 800 miles and staying out of boost and observing the speed limit too. I averaged 26.9 mpg

I get about 17 in the city and 21 on the highway. 100% stock 2007 RDX. The hard part is using the cruise control on the highway and keeping it off boost because the cruise control wants to boost everytime I go up a hill.

just took my 12 RDX to Canada, it's mostly highway uphill, my average speed on the way up was 75mph and got about 22mpg, and on my way back, my average speed was 65-70mph, and got ~25mpg. very happy with these mpg numbers.

It's been 4 years since I got my RDX and I'm getting about the same mileage as when it was brand new. 70/30 city/highway. When on highway going about 70-80 with AC on. On a 4-5 hour drive getting about 22 mpgs. City getting between 17-19. I think people getting anything over 23 mpgs aren't enjoying the car enough :-) Take it for a good spin and enjoy the turbo!

I've gotten 24.2 mpg off a tank before. Most of the time, I'm around 22.5-23.0 on the highway going about 70-75.

Caution: This may harm your fuel delivery system. You can still calc your mpg by filling up every time and record the gals and miles.

Why run the tk mt? Not even in a so called emergency.

Trouble Two Ways...

2gal @ level ground but accelerate or head uphill, how dry?

Short term -sucks the heavy stuff up off the bottom of the tank into the filter and pump. What's not heavier than fuel?

Long term - the pump not only works harder with less fuel stacked above it, but gets cooled by fuel so when it pumps less fuel with less head pressure- it also removes less heat, increasing wear on the pump. How many times is that ok?

Respect your fuel system, respect your RDX.

yes i know that's why i said "i once did a...". i also run PEA based FI cleaner to disolve the content on bottom of the tank every 5000km. currently gettin 23.4mpg 60% city.

It just seems to me the RDX offers zero compromise on eco, even if you never put your foot in it.


And to be clear, that is a good thing.

1) More fuel is needed to make what? (atbe...<mpg=>hp/tq)

2) Our weak conjoined twin, seperated at birth, is holding on line 1.

17 to 18 mpg here. I'm all stop and go, from Brooklyn to NJ and back every day. I was initially pretty dissapointed, but you know what? For something with enough power to be fun on the roads that's really not that bad. I just rented a couple similar sized suv's while my car was in the shop and couldn't do much better, even with their meager little 4 bangers. This gave me renewed confidence in the RDX. It's a fair compromise.

I live 50km from my school so I do about 125km a day in mixed traffic...
With a bit of a lead foot I can easily get 12L/100km (20mpg)... if I try to drive efficiently I can get around 10L/100km (23-24mpg).

Whats the point of smashing the throttle every chance you get? So you can look cool accelerating to 40mph then back to 0 faster then everyone else? Wheres the fun in that? Theres nothing wrong with driving eco when you can to save some cash, floor it when you wanna have some fun in the twistys.

But then again, if I had the money to do 10mpg I probably would.
