What Color?

What Color?
I am leaning towards Blue/Black since I like it and it seems more rare. If I can't get that White/Black and after that Silver/Black.....
I wish the Red of more of a Firetruck Red...
I realize this is pretty subjective but still....

According to the "owners sign in" thread, blue and red are the least popular colors by a large margin:
Exterior
37 Alabaster Silver
29 Carbon Bronze
53 Carbon Gray
8 Moroccan Red
40 Nighthawk Black
27 White Diamond
9 Royal Blue

Personally, I think gray and black are kind of boring, but what do I know.

Was considering the Carbon grey, but decided it was too dull a colour for the RDX.
Then considered black, but the lack of chrome window external trims, makes it look blend.
I went with white diamond pearl, to me personally, it looks the best, classy and sporty at the same time.
Taupe interior is a magnet for stains and dirt.

By the way, drove a silver RDX with Ebony interior yesterday again (still trying to decide what to do) and felt the same way...the car just looked dirty inside as I could see specs of dirt all over. However, I do LOVE the way the Ebony looks, I just won't get one with Ebony interior.

I have tan leather in my gs300 that I've owned for 7+ years, and that's been with 2 kids messing it up. It's definitely getting worn, however, its very tough to see any dirt, cracks, scratches, etc..etc..they all blend in. I've never owned a car with dark (black) interior but while my car was being serviced yesterday I had a RX350 (which I did not like by the way) with black leather interior and I hated it...it looked so dirty as any tiny bit of dirt stands out like a sore thumb. Granted, it was a rental and I'm sure not taken care of that well...however, its very apparent to me that with a black interior, your going to see every little speck of dirt, every crack, etc...much easier than with a light interior. I guess that goes along with having a black exterior...it looks AWESOME when clean, but it never stays clean long...in no times its dirty and shows every little spec of dirt.

Granted, the Taupe interior gives the impression of a more "expensive" car, like that of the Rolls Royce or Aston Martin, which tends to use light tan leather.
I have the black interior in both my wife's TSX and my RDX, Lexol it every month (clean/condition) and especially for my wife's TSX, it still looks new. The specks of dirt can be wiped off or vacuumed off.
Ultimately, at the end of the day, to each his own...

I have the blue - which I love. I'll admit though that it doesn't get washed as often as it should to look its best. I also have the taupe interior. I haven't had any problems with dirt or stains, but then again I don't have kids and I put in the all season mats to help keep the carpet clean. I also try to wipe down anything as soon as I notice it. My husband's TL has the ebony interior and you can really see the creases in the seats, but it does show dirt less. My last car was black/black and I wanted something a little less like a furnace for GA summers.

The other thing to consider as well is HEAT. I live in Texas and a black interior left sitting in the sun for several hours on a 100+ degree day means you can't even sit in the seat with shorts on without getting a 3rd degree burn on the back of your legs.
I have two kids as well and the taupe is standing up nicely. I don't think you can wrong either way...it's definitely a personal preference thing and what feels best to you...but i weighed both options and decided the taupe just looked better.

Here in Vancouver BC, Canada, temperature seldom get over 26C (even in the summer) and humidity is typically 65% throughout the year. So having a black interior is definitely not an issue.
Yes, creases are easily seen in the black seats, but creases form also in Taupe seats, it is just the leatherette vinyl trim in the seats that is the problem.

Exterior hides dirt better than any car I've owned, but unfortunately (for me) I really have to keep up on the taupe interior. This is due predominantly to the dirt/mud/gravel associated with most kayak launch sites.

Just to clarify, the Taupe is in no way a tan shade. Light gray it more like it.
I had an Red 01 CLS with Biege interior, and an Red 05 TL with Camel, and found that the Acura leather is easy to keep clean.
This car ( Red / Taupe ) seems a but different in the sheen of the leather parts of the seats. Both of those cars had a far glossier finish that this RDX, so I think they have changed it up a bit. Both of the earlier cars exhibited wrinkling on the drivers seat within 1 year. I had no problem getting Acura to swap the seat on each car during waranty. ( Dealer said they can do it as good will once per customer at Acuras expense. )
I find that if I keep after it a bit, a light color is no problem to keep clean.

I have the red and totally love it. I don't know if it a cicken or the egg thing as far as popularity vs availability though. My dealership had about 25 RDXs and only one red.
I do like the black but think it looks awful when dirty and I tend to take a while between washes.

silver is pretty easy
I have had several silver color cars, and I feel they really look great when clean and look pretty good when dirty. If you don't like to clean your car then you should go with silver. If you like to clean your car then black is great clean, but silver too has a beautiful sheen when clean... I also noticed that even though my silver cars get swirl marks, they don't show up like they did on my black car.

Going in tomorrow to buy.
Down to bronze/taupe and silver/ebony.
I think the ebony interior is cooler looking, but I park outside in TX everyday for work. Also, my wife's Forester XT is silver/black. Damn. This is tough. I e-mailed my salesmen yesterday and told him silver/ebony. then woke up this morning thinking Bronze/taupe.
Well, wife likes bronze/taupe, so....

The dark and light interiors both have their advantages/disadvantages. In a dark interior, you'll see every bit of dust, sand, and anything foreign that is not black. In a taupe interior, you'll see other kinds of stains and dirt more easily. The best compromise might be something grayish or dark tan (I quartz in mine - basically a grayish blue, and it very easy to take care of).

Does anyone have the Alabaster Silver with the taupe/grey interior? If so how does it look? MY concern here would be a lack of contrast between the silver exterior and the interior
If I decide to buy the RDX (2008) I have narrowed my colour choices to:
Exterior: Silver, Carbon Bronze,Blue and maybe the new colour that replaces the Carbon Grey. I keep wondering why blue is not a good seller. It seemed ok but probably because it is dark and hard to keep clean.
Interior: I prefer the light interior( taupe/grey whatever is called)because it is hot here in the Spring/summer.Have no kids and mostly two of us in the car so maybe it will be OK. I had tan leatherette in my BMW and it was Ok(have to be careful with clothing that the dye comes off-like new blue jeans).
