seems like there was a factory memo to dealers to check the water pump and make sure it was bolted on and torqued to spec.... just so happens the dealer didn;t get around to checking my rdx before it was delivered to me.... so i had to wait the 45 min for them to check it....

no recall... but a factory precaution memo... someone in Ohio must have fallen asleep on the water pump section...

Can you possible advise me where this information came from in regards to this factory memo. If i could show it to my service rep.. then maybe he could at least check to see if my water pump is torqued properly. This misalignment could also be causing the idler pulley noise that I have with my RDX..see message thread by Ira Hartman dated Oct. 5th 2006.
your help would be appreciated.

The water pump is outside the path of the timing chain.

Colin could the water pump itself be causing what appears to be pulley noise. i have been using "pulley noise", because to me it is the easiest way for me to explain what I think the noise sounds like.

It's very possible, but remember that this would usually vary with engine RPM and you've stated that your sound does not change when you rev the engine.
