Turbo noise question
Very soon to be a new owner of a 1st ge RDX! One quick question though.
I've driven multiple 2008 and 2009 RDX's and the one I want to buy (a 2008, 84k miles, impeccable service record) has a significantly louder turbo than others. The power/acceleration/idle etc all seems exactly the same, just a much louder turbo when you get on the gas, even just part throttle. Do you think this simply an aftermarket air filter or intake? I don't mind the extra whoosh, but wife thinks she'll get annoyed with it for daily driving.

To be completely honest, we can't really answer your questions without seeing the car in person. There are intakes for the rdx available, but it is very noticeable, like darth vader noticeable. But there are a number of variables that could be why it is louder. If something feels off, maybe get one of the quieter ones because for all we know, it may be a problem.

I just have a K/N drop in filter with Hondata, ETS intercooler, and Heat Shield gasket. I guess I never noticed the turbo noise getting louder after compared to before the mods? I hear (feel) more of a powertrain TQ grunt/groan more compared to turbo whine when I put my foot in her. The RDX is kinda of a loud vehicle with a lot of sound just from road noise the faster you go. Maybe the loud RDX might have tires with less road noise or the test drive route might have been more quiet?
Really hard to say what else without knowing about any possible aftermarket mods, engine codes, or undiscovered maint issues.
