Tire shop scratched one of my rims!
Just got four new tires last weekend, and because it rained most of the week, I just cleaned the car on Friday and found when cleaning the rims that while removing one of the old stick on weights scratched the paint about 2.5" with about 1/4" right to the base material.
When I called on Friday the guy I was dealing with said just put some nail polish on it. So I went to Acura and they told me the shop should buy me a new one as the rims were as new. Man am I PI$$ED.
Any ideas?

So I went back to Parkinson Tire in Woodstock Ontario and after looking at the scratch Dallas the guy who helped me the first time said the scratch was on a "B" surface inside the rim and that they would not pay for a new rim, or a re-surface. The best they would offer is to sand it down themselves and put a thin layer of sealer.
If anyone is going to get tires in Woodstock Ontario do not go to Parkinson Tire, if you like your rims.

That's ridiculous. It shouldn't matter if it's on the inside of the rim, a scratch is a scratch so they should pay for it.
I had a similar situation when I left my Audi at a shop to have the brakes done. I get it back and there's a nice gouge on the rim and in the sidewall of the tire. The only thing they would do was pay for half the cost of the tire.
It sucks that you basically have to take pictures of your entire car before you drop it off at a shop these days.

Funny thing is I have only had the RDX for a little more than 1 month, so I actually spoke with the dealer today and they are willing to confirm that there were no scratches on the rim when I picked it up.
Parkinson tire is not saying they didn't do it, just not will to pay to fix it.
What the hell do you do in these situations?

Anyway, if there is a national owner/ company for the local store you went to, you can try contacting them. Of if not, you can try contacting the (actual or franchise) owner (not the manager) of the local store. Try pointing out your previous business (if any), future customer satisfaction and recommendations to your friends (positive or negative), etc. Note that the owner, but not the manager, has a vested interest in keeping you a happy and loyal customer.
However, I have looked at my own Acura wheels, and do wonder how the 'glued on' weights can be removed without removing the paint down to the bare metal. Anyone know? I am just assuming that no matter who does it, dealer or aftermarket tire store, how can those weights be removed without paint damage?
Really, it looks to me like the the original weights, both on the inside of the wheel (glued), and those clipped over the edge of the rim, were placed _before_ the wheel was painted. This is because the weights are the same painted gray color as the wheel. I suspect it is not possible to remove the weights w/o damage? anyone had this done w/o damage?

Check this guy's experience with a chain tire co. in the area.

Diggin' the RDX!
You can stf and see my recent experience with this. I had mine repainted (paid for by the shop that scratched it, Costco, actually) by a specialist, it turned out fine. Either way, I'd hire an attorney and have an attorney friend send the shop a letter threatening a lawsuit. Or simply take them to small claims court yourself, call your local newscaster "on your side" team, etc. You are not without recourse.
