Thinking about trading my X3 for an RDX tech

Considering trading my 05 X3 for a RDX tech. Drove the RDX yesterday and was for the most part favorably impressed.

I left foot brake and found the placement of the parking brake to be inappropriate. Is the parking brake location something that others have had problems with?

I have not had a problem with it. It is pretty high and out of the way for me. I left foot brake sometimes too.

I agree. I think you'll have no regrets. No comparison IMHO.

After driving mine for 6 weeks, I say go for it without a doubt. Am curious however - given your comment about being favorably impressed, have you driven the 07 X3 for comparison? I'd like to know if the RDX compares favorably to it as well.

No problems with the parking brake after getting used to not using a hand brake.

Got to drive an RDX today as a loaner. As someone who predominantly drives stick shifts, I found the parking brake pedal to be in a very bad location. It is very close to where the clutch pedal would be--I would expect is to be much further to the left. Otherwise, quite a fun vehicle to drive as SUV goes.

Didn't get to drive an 07 X3. BMW has really promoted it as being a major refreshing with much better interior, but I'll be darned if I notice it as being a marked improvement.

If you are under 6' tall, I think it is impossible NOT to rub your leg against the side skirts when getting out of the X3. It really turns me off - and I've had two other BMW's and really WANT to like the X3. Even if you get the sport package with the body colored low profile side skirts, most people's leg rub against them. Look at any mildy dirty X3 and you will typically see a clean spot by the door sills - usually rubbed clean by the driver pant leg.

FWIW: I checked out a 07 X3: Premium, Sport, & Cold Weather packages, Naviagition, BiX, 19"s and Park distance control. The sticker was $50k

It sure dont fee like 260 HP....but it is smoooooooth.
