I know there was a thread or some posts on this in the past...but i just looked at our truck on acura's website, and correct me if im wrong, but when the RDX came out, the "taupe" was beige lether w/brown 2 tone on the dash. I just built an 09 RDX and now taupe is GRAY? am i missing something?

the RDX 100% came in a beige interior, at least in the 07 & 08 models, and i think the beige, then, was called taupe...i know this because i wanted to buy it but they didnt have my exterior color choice.

?? I really dont like the full gray interior, looks very flat to me....

 

Looks the same to me, though Acura's pictures do vary a bit from picture to picture.

It a greyish-beige. I bought a tan cargo liner...and it doesn't really match.

 

When you choose the taupe interior the dashboard is still grey and it goes all along the front window. The side doors, glove box, center console, and pretty much everything else is taupe. Don't pay attention to the colors online as the color online is not a true representation of the real interior color. Go see it in person at a dealer to get a good sense of the color inside. I much prefer it over black but that's just me.

 

Taupe is actually defined as a brownish gray, so I guess it just depends on how you look at it.

 

heres the difference....goto interior pics, click the front dash pic that they have, then, go build an rdx and choose taupe, 100% difference, looks all gray to me

 

Yeah, some of those definitely look full on gray - though the top of the dash is still black/charcoal. I think it's just bad pics/renderings since the TL's Taupe is the same as my RDX.

 

Something funny must have happened at the taupe store in Marysville OH.

Both my 08 TL and 09 RDX are what they call taupe. The TL is skewed towards light grey on carpet, console and dashboard trim. The RDX is very brown in comparison, the lower dash and carpet is even what I would call straight tan in most lighting.

I'll see if I can take a pic of both mats next to eachother to illustrate.

 

ya i was under the impression, last time i looked, the taupe in the RDX was beige and brown, ive never seen a "gray" interior, either in the showroom, lot, or online until i was just tooling around the site this morning and was like wtf

 

I've got taupe on my '08 RDX, and the only word that really describes it is grey. I guess you can stretch to say it has some tan/brown undertones, but in reality it's just plain grey!

 

To each their own. I have taupe and I don't think it looks anything close to grey. It's more on the brown side than grey side. But I guess everyone has their own opinion. You put the taupe next to a real grey leather interior and it's not even close.

 

Is it possible that there are different "taupe" leathers in different parts of the country? The RDX taupes that I have seen are a light brown color, definitely not a colorless gray.

 

No they get the taupe from the same manufacturer so I doubt there are different kinds. It's just a matter of people's perceptions. I'm with you, it's definitely a light brown color but some people can be picky on what they think is taupe and what they actually get. Oh well...like I said. To each their own.
