swapping chrome door handles for body-coloured handles

Have any of you swapped out the outer chrome handles to body-coloured ones found on the CRV?

they definitely look the same when eyeballing it from the outside, but I was hoping someone here would know if it's a direct fit from having tried the swap.

I did it , but be advised , it was an UTTER NIGHTMARE .

It's the best modification i've done and it turned out great.

But its far from a direct swap.

did you have to do any cutting? or just buy more parts that are associated with the door handle to make it fit properly.

If it is so difficult to do a swap ; it might be easier to have them painted to match your paint.

I wanted a blacked out RDX .

the week i bought it , i bought a black honda CRV handle and a chrome RDX handle .
terrific quality - $25 a piece - all plastic - pure crap

nothing matched up , the insides and latches are totally different moldings , and exterior shapes are different and the exterior length is 1/4 longer. so i tossed the swap idea.

i looked hard at painting , vinyl wrap , and black chrome as options .

i couldn't get any professional painter to touch them .
paint doesn't adhere to chromed plastic long term .

Wrapping ends up with seams and some areas when you open the handle can't be done and the chrome shows

Black chrome handles were a little too Las Vegas for my taste.

this summer i figured the handles were so cheap , i'd give the swap a shot.

heinous details coming soon
