Surprise K&N Filter Cleaning
Surprise K&N Filter Cleaning
So, i removed my K&N filter in the beg of Dec. I cleaned it over this past weekend. I think i may have put on maybe 10K miles on it from install in summer of 08 to Dec 08.
holy DIRT...i was amazed by how much dirt came off this thing, some of my friends had told me to clean it every 10-20k, i thought they were nuts , but uhhhh..yea ill be doing it every 10k....water was straight up brown for a min or so under the hose.
its not like i was expecting it to be totally clean, but i guess what i saw really surprised me given that they say to clean it every 50k. no way.

the cleaning is fairly easy...spray on the solution, wait a little bit (but no longer than 10 mins - do not want it to dry onto the filter) rinse thru with hose....have to wait till filter is completely dry, only natural dry! then apply the oil - wait 20 or so mins....given that the filter has to naturally dry....make sure u have nothing to do for a good part of the day! or pop the stocker back in

one thing to clear up...the solution is a spray...the oil you have to "apply" oil process takes a bit of time, but once you have it down...there is a guide tip on the oil bottle, you apply to each crown of the filter so that the filter is evenly red in color...just dont over oil (that will make more sense when you actuall do it)
