Why would you spend money on inferior Duralast coils when you can get OE quality ones for 50 a pop? I'm all for preventative maintenance as well, but replacing coils unnecessarily is not something I would suggest replacing them with quality components, lifetime warranty be damned..
How is that a valid comparison? OIl becomes acidic over time, where as coils do what exactly?

Synthetic oil doesn't break down like the old Dino stuff. My oil guy said it can go 2 years with no issues, providing I run it long enough to boil out the moisture.
I have 183k miles and have had one single coil go bad. They are not something that should fail on a predictive timeline - some will die in 50k, most will outlast the car. I personally would not change them out unless they fail.
A failed coil can be anything from just a misfire code to a flashing CEL and a stumbling idle (plus a misfire code). I had one completely fail on me and the car was effectively running on 3 cylinders - no warning signs. More often than not, when they go, they just go.
