sonata turbo
w/6 sp auto = 22/34 mpg, 274 HP & 269 TQ @ 1750 rpm
granted the RDX is A TRUCK w/AWD no less, but those are SERIOUS NUMBERS w/fuel economy basically almost better than regular 4 cylinders, like a CIVIC
on paper is one thing, how it performs is another but thats pretty solid, and its a front mount intercooler, not bad

If im not mistaken i remember reading on either automobilemag, motortrend, or some car magazine website that the 2.0t turbo will be placed in the kia sportage sometime in the near future.
Been looking for the article but can't find it =/

whatever hyundai has done/will do seems nuts to me, honda is being blown away in many areas of automotive engineering, no one cares about tech packages anymore, especially ones that dont really offer any tech - you can get anything u want anywhere you want thru anybody maybe in 06 std bluetooth was huge, and an advanced nav too, but now its common place where is the development and energy innovation thats actually available & usable , i dont get it
the RDX engine to me was always the TSX 4 banger with a pretty good turbo attached. period. they beefed up the TQ management to handle it but other than that its pretty much just a normal vtech to me not much innovation other than the vari flow --- what i think Hyundais turbo shows is that honda has been and is lazy with their engines and technology - the claimed mpg is redic for a performance engine let alone a TURBO blowing at 17 psi making those numbers in a 3500 lb car
i mean, we r still working with a 5 speed, not that i care but when u look at it combined with its mpg it seems really old especially when low brand companies are cranking out remarkable stuff

i went out and tested the new sonata in both sport & limited models, i didnt care for the limiteds drive at all, felt floaty, they really tried to clone an accord v6 feel but they missed, the 4 cylinder is no where near as smooth or refined as honda but that being said...the equipment level and attention to detail is there, they need a few more years to establish reliability and resale to match the overall product and honda is going to be reeling. Hyudais price wont remain too low tho, soon its going to be somewhat equal, as it is, the limited gets up there and is basically comparable to any loaded camry or accord...i still dont feel their product is up to Honda levels altho recent reviews seem to love them, they just dont feel as solid in many areas as Honda but pretty soon man its all gonna change, they def are on the styling tip and seem to feel the current climate or preferences here

I know the vehicle is not out yet or that you said but the 2011 models are showing on there website and they do not have sonata turbo option for 2011 showing . Check it out go to there main website and see the 2011 models .

i understand this - am i missing something here? - i never said it was on their website, being sold, or reviewable there - its due out as a late 2011 addition...im not sure im understanding what you are trying to say other than its not listed on their website yet, when its sold i have every confidence it will be there on release, for now my only reference was the motor trend article im not sure why you are hung up on the hyundai website

Same thing with Acura and the 2011 TSX wagon - it is due out later this year, but you cannot build it on the web site yet. It is coming, just isn't available yet.

If Honda continues with the same motor for the expected 2012 update, that will be SIX model years with exactly the same engine. It would be more newsworthy if Hyundai did NOT put out a better product at this point.

i will be really dissapointed with acura if they dont do something with teh turbo engine, whether its reworked, most likely will get the 6 speed, but man do they use and reuse powerplants and not think twice. yes they are good, yes they are reliable, but i feel like if youve driven one V6 from honda uve driven all of them; they sound the same, drive the same, same performance, absent tq, need to hammer them to get performance. at least with the RDX i felt and do feel its one of hondas strongest powerplants, and the numbers prove that - especially NOW if they cant crank up mpg by at least 2 or 3, not sure how they are going to pawn off that engine in todays market
