service B1?

HI RDXers
I got a msg from my 2007 rdx, which said service mainentance soon, B1. I called my dealer, and they said I need to change filter and do tir rotation... which will cost 300CAD... but I remembered the first time I did my mainentance just cost about 70USD.. why such a big difference??

Do I have to do tir rotation?

$300 seems way overpriced for an oil change and tire rotation.

$300 canadian, but that is little pricey for a B1, B6 that would still be expensive but not as bad. call another dealer in the area and c what they charge

I just had my B1 service. Oil and filter, plus tire rotation cost $117 US. I would go to another dealer.

$40 for oil and filter (do it myself) and $20 for tire rotation.

seems ridiculously expensive. I just had my B1 go on as well. Which dealership?

Do we even need to go to dealerships for service or is it ok to go to a regular mechanic?

You can go to a regular mechanic, but make sure you get Mobil 1 or another Acura certified oil and a good filter. Also, keep your receipts.

nope.

Not everyone know what all the openings are for under the hood (i know the blue flip lid on the clearish open container thingy on the left side is for windshield wiper fluid, but that's about it), or have ever actually been under a car. I suspect both are necessary in order to change the oil, based on TV/the movies.

Plus, jacking a car up to take all the tires off and move them around sounds like something I would GLADLY pay someone else to do. Ranks right up there with going to the dentist and paving my own driveway in terms of how I would like to spend my free time.

There are some less expensive options out there. I have a wonderful Honda Civic Si, that I love. I did not love the local Honda service department, and instead found a very, very good independent Honda/Acura specialist, who I've used for 5 years. They, and my experience with the Si were a major factor in me deciding on an Acura.

My first A service with my RDX was about $70, and was basically just an oil change. I was very unimpressed with the knowledge level of the service department.

When I went to the Honda dealer for my first service with the Si, it was an oil change, but also a very thorough inspection, including checking/re-torqueing critical fittings, and a tire rotation.

The independent Honda/Acura garage currently charges $80 for an oil change, complete inspection and tire rotation.
