Running Boards installed / cost

Okay, I am kicking myself for not getting the running boards & I decided to have my dealer (or any Acura dealer) install them when I take my RDX in for the first maintenance. I am not handy like so many of you, so I would like to know what a "fair" price I should pay for the running boards & installation. Can anyone give me some numbers?

They are a simple bolt on application. The running boards themselves cost right around $430. I wouldn't allow them any more than one hour to install. So whatever you'd pay for one hour of labor is how much you should pay over the $430. I'd say $500 tops and that's pretty generous.

thanks sasair, i knew you would give me some solid advice! living in nyc, these dealers (at least the one in Manhattan) sometimes don't provide a "fair" deal.

I know my dealer charges outrageous prices for "installation". Even things that don't require any, like floormats and cargo liners. The things that actually do require installation they charge an arm and a leg for. When I first ordered my RDX I ordered it with about 4 accessories, then when I got home and looked up how much I could get them for I figured out that I would save about $700 in their installation charges. I cancelled them all and installed them all myself and with that $700 I bought more stuff.

I got the side running boards installed when I got my car because I like the way the look. I still like the way they look, but I would probably not get them again if I could do-over. I bang my ankles on them at least once a day - they're always in the way.

When installing accessories the dealer is outrageous in installation pricing.

I just removed my boards, they hit my leg on exit, but removal/install in about half an hour. Have a local mechanic do it if you don't want to yourself; all you need is a socket wrench.

Maybe you can sell them on here somewhere. get back some of your money and you don't have to store them, and if someone wants running boards, they could probably save alot over buying from a dealer.

Can you give me some more detail on what you don't like about the running boards? I haven't installed any accessories in about a month and am itching for something to do.

They look great, but being tall they hit my calf on exiting. A fun and easy installation.
