Rubber Window Trim Replacement?
Rubber Window Trim Replacement?
My 2011 RDX has worn rubber window trims (outside bottom window). Worn as in the rubber at the ends are basically detached and just sticking up on the window. The rubber is relatively brittle as well, and does not wipe any dew off in the morning when the window is opened and closed. I have checked pricing to replace all four, and it would be approx. $80 apiece, or $320 in total. Does not seem to be any aftermarket cheap clones either. So other than the windows will not clear if dew is on them, how important is it to have these window trim pieces properly sealed or touching the window? Anyone replace these with cheaper parts from somewhere? Thanks.
Bringing this backup for some assistance. I got around to replacing the two rear window molding trim pieces. Just a little PIA to get the trim lifted up and breaking half the plastic clips. Need to do the fronts, but the trim piece runs under a different plastic piece (near the mirror). Anyone have instruction on how to remove that piece? I don’t know if I need to take the tweeter out from the inside, to get some screws out holding the triangular outside piece on. Actually, a little weary of taking the tweeter off, but no visible screws on that. Thanks all!

The below is the closest & only instruction remotely close to what you request I could uncover?
Maybe it will help the thought process.
NOTE:
-Put on gloves to protect your hands.
-Take care not to scratch the door or the related parts.
1.Remove these items:
-Outer corner front door trim
-Front door glass Service & Repair
2.Release the front hook (A) from inside of the door, then pull up the front door glass outer weatherstrip (B).

3.Starting at the front, release the hooks (C) and detach the clips (D), then pull up the door glass outer weatherstrip from the front.
4.Release the rear hook (E) from inside of the door, then remove the weatherstrip.
5.Install a new weatherstrip in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
NOTE:
- When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
-Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.

I finally finished putting in all new trims. In the end, the rears were worse than the fronts to take off it seemed. The rubber was definitely hard and brittle. I unclipped the tweeter speaker on the inside, then this exposes two screws holding the outside triangle trim piece on. Once that is removed, it is the jam and pull up on the trim piece. Half the white clips break, some fall down in the door, but they do come off with some force. The new ones snap into place with no issues. That is hopefully the last cosmetic piece I have to replace. Two sun visors and four window piece trim pieces for approx. $450. Amazing.
