Replacing Key FOB

Hey guys, my fob doesn't work anymore so I don't have keyless entry. It's a pain because I have a 9month old daughter and it's hard unlocking or locking while holding her and the key. We bought the car from a dealership and they only gave us one key.
I took it apart to change the battery and there was no battery.
Does this mean I have to go and buy a new FOB or is there a way to charge it?( red light no longer blinks)
How much would a dealership charge for a new FOB( I'm in Toronto)
Thanks I hope I have given enough info

You should get an additional key regardless, it helps in moments like this. And no, there is no "charging" the fob, there is a battery, look at the link.

Also we need to know if he purchase this from a Acura dealership or a Third party used dealership.

Acura suppose to provide at at least 2 FOB keys. (Some would also include the valet key)

Used car dealership normally can provide 1 to 2 keys.
They get their cars from trade-in car auctions and actual trade in from walk in customers.

Unless the car is new, they are under no obligation to give him two fobs, unless is agreed under the purchase agreement. Even if he got the car from a third party, he can request two fobs and the valet key as a condition for purchase.
A friend got a Benz M class from a Nissan dealership and had to deal with that kind of non-sense. In the end the dealer contacted the person who traded in the car and got the spare key from them.

Yeah - I think that is one of the main things to ask for when you purchase a used car.
To get a replace key is around +100 - 300 depending on the brand of the car.
