Replace drivers seat

2007 rdx drivers seat cushion has tears in leather. Replacement oem parts $400 for pad and leather cover. Was able to locate a near new full seat on rails from junk yard for $150. Before I pull the trigger should I be concerned about airbag deployment if swapping seats? I will disconnect battery prior to removing power seat cables. Any input, concerns etc are appreciated! Thanks

I've been told to wait 20 minutes or so after you disconnect the battery to just make sure any capacitors that store energy have a chance to discharge. Either way, as long as there is no juice to the airbag you should not have anything to worry about. Even more so, the sensors that trigger the airbag to deploy should also be worthless with no power. Good luck, and make sure to take some pics! As we get up there in miles, I imagine others will want to replace / reupholster their seats to keep their rides looking new. I know I've already replaced my console and door armrests. Lucky my seats are still in great shape though...I've seen some at dealers with half my mileage and seats in worse shape.

Thanks much! Seems pretty straight forward but those airbags are always on my mind. I could always just take the seat cushion and replace just that part but the entire seat seems easier.

Does anyone know what size hogrings are used to install new seat covers from what I hear they come in 3/8, 1/2, or 3/4. I'm considering on doing this major task for my 2 front seats first, then I'll work on the rear some time after.... Thanks
